This newly built custom residence turned out to be spectacular. With Interiors by Popov’s magic touch, it has become a real family home that is comfortable for the grownups, safe for the kids and friendly to the little dogs that now occupy this space.The start of construction was a bumpy road for the homeowners. After the house was framed, our clients found themselves paralyzed with the million and one decisions that had to be made. Decisions about plumbing, electrical, millwork, hardware and exterior left them drained and overwhelmed. The couple needed help. It was at this point that they were referred to us by a friend.We immediately went about systematizing the selection and design process, which allowed us to streamline decision making and stay ahead of construction. We designed every detail in this house. And when I say every detail, I mean it. We designed lighting, plumbing, millwork, hard surfaces, exterior, kitchen, bathrooms, fireplace and so much more. After the construction-related items were addressed, we moved to furniture, rugs, lamps, art, accessories, bedding and so on. The result of our systematic approach and design vision was a client head over heels in love with their new home. The positive feedback we received from this homeowner was immensely gratifying. They said the only thing that they regret was not hiring Interiors by Popov sooner!

The end result is a very open clean house with many beautiful features. THis home had been neglected for years starting on the outside with very overgrown landscaping making it a very unfriendly looking home nobody would want to approach. We cleaned up the yard gave it some new bright siding. But the real magic happened on the inside by opening up the living room, kitchen and dining area creating a welcome and entertaining amenable space. We relocated the kitchen to give it a better flow and allowing for the kitchen to enlarge in size. The transformation of this room from a dark, tiny corner bedroom into a light, relaxing and luxurious master bathroom was magical and all it took was a velux window and updating the horse hair plaster with modern sheetrock. A small dark room became large enough to house a soaking tub big enough for two, a double vanity and towel storage. The oversized mirror reflects the skylight perfectly, making this a delightful room any time of day and an incredible spot to watch the stars from the tub on an evening.

Our winner had visions of vintage style and we delivered with layers of color, texture and softness. We built the upholstered headboard and finished it with a rustic frame in reclaimed boards from Portland's Salvage Works. Vintage dressers were painted in the deepest tone of the palette (provided by the linen on the headboard), and layers of bedding and wall to wall draperies finished the space. Even on a tight budget, the magic of scale, color and texture can completely transform a dream master retreat!
