The must-haves were a space that felt integrated with the home’s interior renovations, which provided a cook zone, living space, and a pool big enough to play water games. And of course, some much needed sun protection. Before, the original two decks were constructed to take in the view, one on top of the other off the back of the house. The 2nd story deck opened directly off the master bedroom. But these clients didn’t really use their bedroom as living space; they didn’t hang out on the deck either. Crucially though, the decks were way too tall and shallow; the sun could easily reach the sitting at most times of day, heating the space to uncomfortable temperatures. photography by Tre Dunham 2018

This seating area is design on a "three season porch". This was a very affordable design. We used items from Target and TJMaxx to accessorize. We added a white tray top to the pedestal to create another table. The ottomans are actually wicker baskets that are turned upside down.

The primary goal for this project was to craft a modernist derivation of pueblo architecture. Set into a heavily laden boulder hillside, the design also reflects the nature of the stacked boulder formations. The site, located near local landmark Pinnacle Peak, offered breathtaking views which were largely upward, making proximity an issue. Maintaining southwest fenestration protection and maximizing views created the primary design constraint. The views are maximized with careful orientation, exacting overhangs, and wing wall locations. The overhangs intertwine and undulate with alternating materials stacking to reinforce the boulder strewn backdrop. The elegant material palette and siting allow for great harmony with the native desert. The Elegant Modern at Estancia was the collaboration of many of the Valley's finest luxury home specialists. Interiors guru David Michael Miller contributed elegance and refinement in every detail. Landscape architect Russ Greey of Greey | Pickett contributed a landscape design that not only complimented the architecture, but nestled into the surrounding desert as if always a part of it. And contractor Manship Builders -- Jim Manship and project manager Mark Laidlaw -- brought precision and skill to the construction of what architect C.P. Drewett described as "a watch." Nothing held back in the MASTER SUITE. Here the grey is a more violet version for a more feminine and soothing feel. BUT... It is highly juxtaposed with Modern “in your face” touches. The King Canopy bed is in polished chrome, the leaning Mirror in steel, the metal frame chairs remind you a guy sleeps here too. But again the softness returns with the white Cameroon headdress, the silver leafed bed chests and the sumptuous white shag carpet. And yes... The French doors swing out to a private balcony overlooking the Pool, Patio, and Green Grounds beyond.
