This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. A flood inspired the owners of this 1980’s home in Ocean Ranch to update and minimize. Our restriction was that the homeowners did not want to use any color, so we needed to create a harmonious balance with the contemporary architecture using a palette of neutrals. We opted for a “soft contemporary” feeling using moss green, pale green, soft brown, dark beige, and cream alongside dark wood in some rooms and pale driftwood in others. Texture, rather than pattern, creates visual interest in the rooms. Organic materials mixed with dark bronze metal details add a natural touch. This Master Bath update in a historic in-town home in Northern New Jersey was restricted to the original footprint, but what a difference an update makes! From cramped and o-l-d to bright, luxurious and mod.

The goal was to create a functional and warm space that still felt open, clean and utilized the large space well. Custom glass panel cabinetry with sliding doors and a central drawer bank features ample storage and even multiple standard outlets inside. Vessel sinks sit atop the custom quartz counters that compliment the stone resin free standing bath. On the back side of the central wall is a walk in, from both sides, his and hers shower. Custom tile through out ties both sides of this large bath together. The shower features multiple niches.

This master bathroom was one of the more challanging projects we have ever preformed. Creating the curbless shower/ trough drain application with the framing restrictions in this 100+ year old house took some creative thinking. The finished product turned out amazing, and includes: heated flooring, heated towell bar, shower steamer, three pre-programed shower valves, waterfall slab bench, soaking tub, LED back lights, floating duel vanities with under lighting and a super unique tile pattern designed by the homeowners.
