They were then joined to form a single panel that when opened offer a view of the master suite's sitting area. The interplay of opposites is an everpresent quality running through this couple's home, and the bedroom door is no exception. Its rough-hewn quality is offset by the surrounding walls and cabinetry, and black hardware. Although the door serves as a backdrop for art when opened, it is practically a piece of art itself.

The main level at this modern farmhouse has a great room and den bookended by stone fireplaces. The kitchen is at the center of the main living spaces where we designed multiple islands for smart base cabinet storage which still allows visual connection from the kitchen to all spaces. The open living spaces serve the owner’s desire to create a comfortable environment for entertaining during large family gatherings. There are plenty of spaces where everyone can spread out whether it be eating or cooking, watching TV or just chatting by the fireplace. This French country, new construction home features a circular first-floor layout that connects from great room to kitchen and breakfast room, then on to the dining room via a small area that turned out to be ideal for a fully functional bar. Directly off the kitchen and leading to the dining room, this space is perfectly located for making and serving cocktails whenever the family entertains. In order to make the space feel as open and welcoming as possible while connecting it visually with the kitchen, glass cabinet doors and custom-designed, leaded-glass column cabinetry and millwork archway help the spaces flow together and bring in. The space is small and tight, so it was critical to make it feel larger and more open. Leaded-glass cabinetry throughout provided the airy feel we were looking for, while showing off sparkling glassware and serving pieces. This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear facing exercise has great views of the rear yard through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below. This five bedroom home features generous walk-in closets, skylights and elegant ceilings. Columns and a tray ceiling define the dining room, while a massive serving bar brings the entire living space together by the kitchen. With its cooktop island, nearby pantry, and large front-facing window, the kitchen has an exceptionally open feel. The master suite offers a sitting room with porch access.

A West Village Bachelor pad bedroom, featuring a hand-painted geometric design that highlights the pre-war features of the space, like the picture moldings. Additionally, because the client wanted both a work space and a place to put his TV (the pre-war wall could not hold a wall mounted tv!), we designed a custom desk/console piece out of reclaimed wood and metal hairpin legs that served both purposes, and fit the space perfectly. A quiet place to unwind at the end of the day was the top priority for this Thousand Oaks client. Soothing plum accents against crisp white bedding. Custom built double-sided barn door that serves as dual purpose, first and foremost as a layered headboard, and seconds as a privacy door simply by sliding across to the vanity area. The client inherited the small side table, which we painted in a charcoal black and now serves as a nightstand. The bathroom vanity was raised 6 inches and custom arched toe kicks were added.
