This serene bath was designed by Jackie Friberg along with the talented homeowner. The inspiration was to provide a tranquil and relaxing retreat to unwind in after a busy day. The classics are always calming elements which provide a level of simplicity along with the dark navy wallpaper for energy and brightness.

Flanking garages compliment a grand entrance and frame a roundabout style motor court. On axis, and centered on the homes roofline is a traditional A-frame dormer. The walkout rear elevation is covered by a paired column gallery that is connected to the main levels living, dining, and master bedroom. Inside, the foyer is centrally located, and flanked to the right by a grand staircase. To the left of the foyer is the homes private master suite featuring a roomy study, expansive dressing room, and bedroom. The dining room is surrounded on three sides by large windows and a pair of French doors open onto a separate outdoor grill space. The kitchen island, with seating for seven, is strategically placed on axis to the living room fireplace and the dining room table. Taking a trip down the grand staircase reveals the lower level living room, which serves as an entertainment space between the private bedrooms to the left and separate guest bedroom suite to the right. Rounding out this plans key features is the attached garage, which has its own separate staircase connecting it to the lower level as well as the bonus room above.

Alongside Jeff King & Company, Marina Blvd., won CotY 2016 National Winner of Landscape Design/Outdoor Living The project was to transform an existing flat roof and master bedroom suite floor into a dramatic deck with kitchen, dining and living areas leading to a stair to an upper deck for America’s Cup race viewing. The existing home is a 3-story 4,000 square foot Spanish Mission-style home built in the 1920’s and sits directly across from the St. Francis Yacht Club on Marina Boulevard in San Francisco – a prime location. No changes were possible for the historic façade and the new construction was to be out of view from the street, as much as possible. Going up the traditionally detailed stairway with decorative railing, you land at the third floor which becomes contemporary in style for the redesigned master bedroom suite, guest bath, sitting room and the roof deck. Large roof decks require careful attention to waterproofing and a Bison pedestal system was used to create a level deck surface and easy maintenance. Heavy ceramic tile pavers were interspersed with walkable in-floor skylights on the main deck with ipe wood floors at the upper deck and stairs. From both the master bedroom and the outdoor deck you can access a sitting room with large pocket or sliding doors to enclose it. If watching the fireworks on July 4th and it gets cold, people can move to the sitting room which has a fireplace to watch in a heated environment. The sitting room gas fireplace is surrounded by steel with a figured steel panel re-purposed from old sea pier metal that has been cleaned and sealed. A guest bath is adjacent to the master bath for guest use. A square recessed pattern tile was used to tie the old Spanish Mission-style feeling into the new more contemporary walls. In a large home that was short on storage, a large built-in armoire was built into the master bathroom for extra capacity. The project took two and a half years to complete including design and construction, in part due to historic reviews by the State of California.

The Dura Supreme double vanity is painted in a bold but neutral gray. A tall central storage tower in the middle allows for extra storage and allowing the countertops to be free of clutter.

Because the state of your bedroom can greatly impact your state of mind, the space should have a relaxing aura and a harmonious design. The repetition of diamond tufting on the headboard and ottoman ¬and the symmetrical placement of the table lamps and pillows create a sense of unity, while the mismatched end tables and assortment of shapes and materials provide variety.

For this 1890s historic home in Burlington’s hill section, homeowners needed to update a master bath last renovated in the 1950s. The goal was in incorporate modern, state-of-the-art amenities while restoring the style of the original architecture. Working within the confines of the room’s modest size, we were able to carve out space for a double walk-in shower, an air jetted chromatherapy tub with a custom mahogany deck and a charming vintage style console sink. The custom cabinetry, paneled wainscoting, doors and trim we designer for this project replicated the period millwork of the home, while the polished nickel fittings provided state-of-the-art function with vintage style. Above the tub we added an interior stained glass window that referenced other such period windows in the home.

The goal of this project was to upgrade the builder grade finishes and create an ergonomic space that had a contemporary feel. This bathroom transformed from a standard, builder grade bathroom to a contemporary urban oasis. This was one of my favorite projects, I know I say that about most of my projects but this one really took an amazing transformation. By removing the walls surrounding the shower and relocating the toilet it visually opened up the space. Creating a deeper shower allowed for the tub to be incorporated into the wet area. Adding a LED panel in the back of the shower gave the illusion of a depth and created a unique storage ledge. A custom vanity keeps a clean front with different storage options and linear limestone draws the eye towards the stacked stone accent wall. Using light flooring in the form of natural lime stone 12x24 tiles with a linear pattern, it really draws the eye down the length of the room which is what we needed. Then, breaking up the space a little with the stone pebble flooring in the shower, this client enjoyed his time living in Japan and wanted to incorporate some of the elements that he appreciated while living there. The dark stacked stone feature wall behind the tub is the perfect backdrop for the LED panel, giving the illusion of a window and also creates a cool storage shelf for the tub. A narrow, but tasteful, oval freestanding tub fit effortlessly in the back of the shower. With a sloped floor, ensuring no standing water either in the shower floor or behind the tub, every thought went into engineering this Atlanta bathroom to last the test of time. With now adequate space in the shower, there was space for adjacent shower heads controlled by Kohler digital valves. A hand wand was added for use and convenience of cleaning as well. On the vanity are semi-vessel sinks which give the appearance of vessel sinks, but with the added benefit of a deeper, rounded basin to avoid splashing. Wall mounted faucets add sophistication as well as less cleaning maintenance over time. The custom vanity is streamlined with drawers, doors and a pull out for a can or hamper. A wonderful project and equally wonderful client. I really enjoyed working with this client and the creative direction of this project. This house accommodates comfort spaces for multi-generation families with multiple master suites to provide each family with a private space that they can enjoy with each unique design style. The different design styles flow harmoniously throughout the two-story house and unite in the expansive living room that opens up to a spacious rear patio for the families to spend their family time together. This traditional house design exudes elegance with pleasing state-of-the-art features.

Inspiration for a large mediterranean master stone tile travertine floor bathroom remodel in Orlando with a drop-in sink, raised-panel cabinets, dark wood cabinets, granite countertops, a one-piece toilet and beige walls

Hillcrest Construction designed and executed a complete facelift for these West Chester clients’ master bathroom. The sink/toilet/shower layout stayed relatively unchanged due to the limitations of the small space, but major changes were slated for the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal. The bathroom was gutted completely, the wiring was updated, and minor plumbing alterations were completed for code compliance. Bathroom waterproofing was installed utilizing the state-of-the-industry Schluter substrate products, and the feature wall of the shower is tiled with a striking blue 12x12 tile set in a stacked pattern, which is a departure of color and layout from the staggered gray-tome wall tile and floor tile. The original bathroom lacked storage, and what little storage it had lacked practicality. The original 1’ wide by 4’ deep “reach-in closet” was abandoned and replaced with a custom cabinetry unit that featured six 30” drawers to hold a world of personal bathroom items which could pulled out for easy access. The upper cubbie was shallower at 13” and was sized right to hold a few spare towels without the towels being lost to an unreachable area. The custom furniture-style vanity, also built and finished at the Hillcrest custom shop facilitated a clutter-free countertop with its two deep drawers, one with a u-shaped cut out for the sink plumbing. Considering the relatively small size of the bathroom, and the vanity’s proximity to the toilet, the drawer design allows for greater access to the storage area as compared to a vanity door design that would only be accessed from the front. The custom niche in the shower serves and a consolidated home for soap, shampoo bottles, and all other shower accessories. Moen fixtures at the sink and in the shower and a Toto toilet complete the contemporary feel. The controls at the shower allow the user to easily switch between the fixed rain head, the hand shower, or both. And for a finishing touch, the client chose between a number for shower grate color and design options to complete their tailor-made sanctuary.

A dated, all white bathroom gets a face lift. The client desired to remodel their Master Bathroom into a charming & relaxing space, while staying within the existing footprint. In this Golden Valley, MN bathroom remodel, the traditional style fixtures coordinate with other elements in the home and a warm color palette with accents of green was selected to coordinate with Master Bedroom. Some of the client’s favorite features is the new vanity with a counter wall cabinet for storage of toiletries & make up. A make-up mirror is mounted on the side and folds back and out of the way. Brushed gold finishes on the plumbing & light fixtures blend nicely with the warm tones of the marble tile. A damask print wallcovering of green & gold along with the honed green granite counter top compliments the green color palette in the Master Bedroom. The raised granite ledge on the side of the tub is a great place set a candle or glass of wine while relaxing in the new bubble massage air bath by Kohler. A recessed niche above the toilet adds character to the toilet/tub room, while crown and tile base moulding finish off the room nicely.
