In the hills of San Anselmo in Marin County, this 5,000 square foot existing multi-story home was enlarged to 6,000 square feet with a new dance studio addition with new master bedroom suite and sitting room for evening entertainment and morning coffee. Sited on a steep hillside one acre lot, the back yard was unusable. New concrete retaining walls and planters were designed to create outdoor play and lounging areas with stairs that cascade down the hill forming a wrap-around walkway. The goal was to make the new addition integrate the disparate design elements of the house and calm it down visually. The scope was not to change everything, just the rear façade and some of the side facades. The new addition is a long rectangular space inserted into the rear of the building with new up-swooping roof that ties everything together. Clad in red cedar, the exterior reflects the relaxed nature of the one acre wooded hillside site. Fleetwood windows and wood patterned tile complete the exterior color material palate. The sitting room overlooks a new patio area off of the children’s playroom and features a butt glazed corner window providing views filtered through a grove of bay laurel trees. Inside is a television viewing area with wetbar off to the side that can be closed off with a concealed pocket door to the master bedroom. The bedroom was situated to take advantage of these views of the rear yard and the bed faces a stone tile wall with recessed skylight above. The master bath, a driving force for the project, is large enough to allow both of them to occupy and use at the same time. The new dance studio and gym was inspired for their two daughters and has become a facility for the whole family. All glass, mirrors and space with cushioned wood sports flooring, views to the new level outdoor area and tree covered side yard make for a dramatic turnaround for a home with little play or usable outdoor space previously. In this master suite, a monochrome color scheme presents a bold look with the addition of curtains, pillows and a duvet cover all in vibrant floral upholstery. Sea grass wallpaper covers a layered inset behind the bed. Crystal detailing on the modern ceiling lights and beside lamps add an extravagant flair, and chrome furnishings create a lustrous gleam.

Built from the ground up on 80 acres outside Dallas, Oregon, this new modern ranch house is a balanced blend of natural and industrial elements. The custom home beautifully combines various materials, unique lines and angles, and attractive finishes throughout. The property owners wanted to create a living space with a strong indoor-outdoor connection. We integrated built-in sky lights, floor-to-ceiling windows and vaulted ceilings to attract ample, natural lighting. The master bathroom is spacious and features an open shower room with soaking tub and natural pebble tiling. There is custom-built cabinetry throughout the home, including extensive closet space, library shelving, and floating side tables in the master bedroom. The home flows easily from one room to the next and features a covered walkway between the garage and house. One of our favorite features in the home is the two-sided fireplace – one side facing the living room and the other facing the outdoor space. In addition to the fireplace, the homeowners can enjoy an outdoor living space including a seating area, in-ground fire pit and soaking tub.

Indoors, a white lithocast bathtub takes center stage in this limestone-clad master bathroom while the mountain crest gets all the glory outdoors. A two-sided fireplace integrated into the wall connects to a luxurious master bedroom. This Modern Spa Master Bathroom went through some major changes! A more contemporary look and wheelchair access is what the couple wanted. Pulling from Japanese design Morey Remodeling created a tranquil space with custom painted cabinetry and imported tile. Includes a new floating vanity with touch LED light medicine cabinets, Delta touch technology faucets and custom backsplash. The jacuzzi tub is the perfect addition to the roll in shower with multiple shower heads. Now the homeowners can age in place with a timeless and functional design. ADA compliant should incorporate features that aid in your day-to-day life without sacrificing visual aesthetic.

This master bedroom is a stunning example of interpreting neutrals with a 'twist'. Tonal wall stripes create a simple backdrop, white a pop of 'ginger' orange keeps the room from being anything but bland. The mix of textural items - from nailhead chests - to silky faux bois area rug - and organic rattan lighting pendants (in lieu of traditional lamps) combine to create an especially warm & inviting space.

The master bedroom has a gorgeous view to the lake. We really wanted a comfortable, yet refined approach to the space. The large headboard with low profile surround worked great for the bed – a bigger footboard would have been too distracting. The clean bench was just enough filler for the large space between the bed and TV area. We love this sofa with a cut-out in the middle. How perfect is that for lounging without cutting off the view? Soft linens, light colors with touches of that "lakey" blue really make this master feel spa- or resort-like. As usual, we changed the ceiling fan to this awesome light fixture.
