This breathtaking project by transFORM is just part of a larger renovation led by Becky Shea Design that transformed the maisonette of a historical building into a home as stylish and elegant as its owners.
Attention to detail was key in the configuration of the master closets and dressing rooms. The women’s master closet greatly elevated the aesthetic of the space with the inclusion of posh items like ostrich drawer faces, jewelry-like hardware, a dedicated shoe section, and glass doors. The boutique-inspired LED lighting system notably added a luxe look that’s both polished and functional.
The contemporary look of the men’s master closet meets office space is striking. Imported wood panels add a natural element to the design while making outstanding use of the residence’s high ceilings. A rolling ladder adds an industrial touch while granting access to the upper cabinetry of the unit.

USI Remodeling recently completed a luxury master bath design in Colleyville, showcasing how thoughtful planning and craftsmanship can feature function and style. This master design was geared to the creation of a zero entry, doorless and glass free shower enclosure. The transitional master bath style feels indulgent yet completely masks the practical quality of life support systems integrated throughout the suite.

Winner of the 2018 Tour of Homes Best Remodel, this whole house re-design of a 1963 Bennet & Johnson mid-century raised ranch home is a beautiful example of the magic we can weave through the application of more sustainable modern design principles to existing spaces.
We worked closely with our client on extensive updates to create a modernized MCM gem.
Extensive alterations include:
- a completely redesigned floor plan to promote a more intuitive flow throughout
- vaulted the ceilings over the great room to create an amazing entrance and feeling of inspired openness
- redesigned entry and driveway to be more inviting and welcoming as well as to experientially set the mid-century modern stage
- the removal of a visually disruptive load bearing central wall and chimney system that formerly partitioned the homes’ entry, dining, kitchen and living rooms from each other
- added clerestory windows above the new kitchen to accentuate the new vaulted ceiling line and create a greater visual continuation of indoor to outdoor space
- drastically increased the access to natural light by increasing window sizes and opening up the floor plan
- placed natural wood elements throughout to provide a calming palette and cohesive Pacific Northwest feel
- incorporated Universal Design principles to make the home Aging In Place ready with wide hallways and accessible spaces, including single-floor living if needed
- moved and completely redesigned the stairway to work for the home’s occupants and be a part of the cohesive design aesthetic
- mixed custom tile layouts with more traditional tiling to create fun and playful visual experiences
- custom designed and sourced MCM specific elements such as the entry screen, cabinetry and lighting
- development of the downstairs for potential future use by an assisted living caretaker
- energy efficiency upgrades seamlessly woven in with much improved insulation, ductless mini splits and solar gain

Modern renovation by J Design Group is stunning
J Design Group, an expert in luxury design, completed a new project in Tamarac, Florida, which involved the total interior remodeling of this home. We were so intrigued by the photos and design ideas, we decided to talk to J Design Group CEO, Jennifer Corredor. The concept behind the redesign was inspired by the client’s relocation.
Andrea Campbell: How did you get a feel for the client's aesthetic?
Jennifer Corredor: After a one-on-one with the Client, I could get a real sense of her aesthetics for this home and the type of furnishings she gravitated towards.
The redesign included a total interior remodeling of the client's home. All of this was done with the client's personal style in mind. Certain walls were removed to maximize the openness of the area and bathrooms were also demolished and reconstructed for a new layout. This included removing the old tiles and replacing with white 40” x 40” glass tiles for the main open living area which optimized the space immediately. Bedroom floors were dressed with exotic African Teak to introduce warmth to the space.
We also removed and replaced the outdated kitchen with a modern look and streamlined, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. To introduce some color for the backsplash and match the client's taste, we introduced a splash of plum-colored glass behind the stove and kept the remaining backsplash with frosted glass. We then removed all the doors throughout the home and replaced with custom-made doors which were a combination of cherry with insert of frosted glass and stainless steel handles.
All interior lights were replaced with LED bulbs and stainless steel trims, including unique pendant and wall sconces that were also added. All bathrooms were totally gutted and remodeled with unique wall finishes, including an entire marble slab utilized in the master bath shower stall.
Once renovation of the home was completed, we proceeded to install beautiful high-end modern furniture for interior and exterior, from lines such as B&B Italia to complete a masterful design. One-of-a-kind and limited edition accessories and vases complimented the look with original art, most of which was custom-made for the home.
To complete the home, state of the art A/V system was introduced. The idea is always to enhance and amplify spaces in a way that is unique to the client and exceeds his/her expectations.

Example of a trendy master light wood floor bedroom design in Toronto with white walls and no fireplace

This brownstone, located in Harlem, consists of five stories which had been duplexed to create a two story rental unit and a 3 story home for the owners. The owner hired us to do a modern renovation of their home and rear garden. The garden was under utilized, barely visible from the interior and could only be accessed via a small steel stair at the rear of the second floor. We enlarged the owner’s home to include the rear third of the floor below which had walk out access to the garden. The additional square footage became a new family room connected to the living room and kitchen on the floor above via a double height space and a new sculptural stair. The rear facade was completely restructured to allow us to install a wall to wall two story window and door system within the new double height space creating a connection not only between the two floors but with the outside. The garden itself was terraced into two levels, the bottom level of which is directly accessed from the new family room space, the upper level accessed via a few stone clad steps. The upper level of the garden features a playful interplay of stone pavers with wood decking adjacent to a large seating area and a new planting bed. Wet bar cabinetry at the family room level is mirrored by an outside cabinetry/grill configuration as another way to visually tie inside to out. The second floor features the dining room, kitchen and living room in a large open space. Wall to wall builtins from the front to the rear transition from storage to dining display to kitchen; ending at an open shelf display with a fireplace feature in the base. The third floor serves as the children’s floor with two bedrooms and two ensuite baths. The fourth floor is a master suite with a large bedroom and a large bathroom bridged by a walnut clad hall that conceals a closet system and features a built in desk. The master bath consists of a tiled partition wall dividing the space to create a large walkthrough shower for two on one side and showcasing a free standing tub on the other. The house is full of custom modern details such as the recessed, lit handrail at the house’s main stair, floor to ceiling glass partitions separating the halls from the stairs and a whimsical builtin bench in the entry.

This is a hot new item! An acrylic base which fits into the space where a tub used to be - very cool and an efficient use of space as well.

A roof is a very important, as well as expensive, feature of your home. Maintaining your roof is one of the best ways to protect you, your family and all you keep under that roof. Atlas Protects™ is more than a slogan as the company, with decades of experience, has the products and advice to help you reduce roof maintenance.
Atlas Roofing StormMaster® Slate and Shake shingles have high performance features that can help resist the many hazards that a roof can face each year. This strength means you, the homeowner, may face fewer maintenance issues.
Master The Storms
Underwriter’s Laboratory, UL 2218 is a national standard rating system for impact resistance that rates roofing materials from Class 1 through 4. A Class 4 rating indicates the highest level of impact resistance. Atlas StormMaster® Shake and StormMaster® Slate shingles have both earned Class 4 ratings. These shingles are strong enough to earn the Class 4 rating because they are manufactured with Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS), a rubberized polymer that gives them incredible flexibility and durability. The rubber-like quality gives StormMaster® shingles the highest protection against impact from hail, which can fracture shingles.
StormMaster® shingles are also high wind-rated which helps resist blown off shingles. Loss of shingles due to high velocity wind could lead to wind-driven rain flooding a house. StormMaster® Slate and Shake come with a Limited Wind Warranty that protects a roof up to 130 mph.
Black streaks on a roof not only look dirty, but also make a house appear old and reduce its curb appeal. Black streaks are the result of algae growth. Atlas StormMaster® shingles are built with the power of Scotchgard™ Protector, which helps a roof retain its color for years by resisting those black streaks. Atlas certifies this by having regular third-party laboratory testing to ensure an even spread of the Scotchgard™ protective copper granules. Both lines of StormMaster® are backed by an Atlas Lifetime Limited Warranty against the black streaks caused by algae.
The Final Word In Warranties
StormMaster® shingles are warranted against manufacturing defects with the exclusive Atlas Lifetime Limited Warranty for 20 years. That is the length of the Premium Protection Period for the initial non-prorated labor and material coverage of every new StormMaster® Slate roof installed with the Atlas Signature Select® System.
StormMaster® shingles give a house what it needs most; an incredibly impressive appearance and security that shelters everything and everyone under the roof. Read more about the full line of StormMaster® shingles.
