As often happens my clients came to me after having their first child. Their home was small but they loved the location and opted to add on instead of move. Their wish list: a master bedroom with separate walk-in closets, a bathroom with both a tub and a shower and a home office with a “hidden door”. The addition was designed in keeping with the existing small scale of spaces so that the new rooms fit neatly above one side of the split level home. The roof of the existing front entry will become a small deck off the office space while the master bedroom at rear will open to a small balcony.

The Master Bedroom's Ensuite was completely renovated with a partition wall removed and custom made shoji doors and mirror made by Tim Ewart were installed. The floating custom made vanity is black walnut veneer, with recycled glass mosaic back splash from Oceanside tile and the porcelain floor tile is from Fontile.

We increased the size of the walk-in shower, added a new shower seat, and used herringbone design tiles for the wall, river pebbles for the shower floor, and black and gold glass for the shower niche. We equipped the shower with a rainfall shower head, handheld body spray, and a skylight which allows warm, natural sunlight to stream in. The rest of the bathroom features a floating linen cabinet, floating double sink vanity, three cylindrical lights, and dark brown tiles.
