Updated master bathroom from below counter, to ceramic Canoe sinks mounted on top of new marble counters. Replaced faucets with a mix of modern and old world charm water pump style faucets. Both sinks and faucets are are both more stylish and more ergonomic the the fixtures from the 80's. The sinks have ease of use push pop up drains, containing removable hair traps, reducing clogged sinks and inconvenience, mess, need and cost liquid cures to dissolve hair buildup in typical sink drains. Went over old Linoleum floors with a laminate with a rubber underside and very tight seams, a ideal moisture tolerant solution for a floating floor in a bathroom, and pleasing to the eye and under foot. Replaced Formica counters with Marble. Build custom on site trim to encase and frame around existing large mirrors that were frameless and glued to the wall.

The kitchen in this beautiful 1934 home had been renovated, but lacked flow and adequate storage and for the family of five. The Viking range was trapped in an alcove, with little counter space on the sides. By relocating the wall oven, the range wall is a functional area featuring two niches, an accessory rail and dramatic tile. The new grey-stained Crystal cabinets in hickory and cherry complement the existing Colorado stone floors. Careful selection of materials and placement blends existing and new, while respecting the vintage of the home.

We Minnesotans understand that winters can be long, cold, and dark. Sunshine is a precious commodity in the middle of February. We designed the second-floor addition to let the sunshine in and make this the brightest room in the home. Two skylights were added to the stair well, with three more in the new addition. The second-floor landing was extended into the new space. Following the home’s existing architecture, this new 300 sq. ft. room features dormers with high-efficiency windows. Additional storage was created with several built-in closets in both the hallway and the addition. These photos were taken in March. With all the skylights facing the South, you can imagine how bright this room will be year-round. The remodeled staircase leads to the second floor and the new addition. The stair's risers, handrail, and banister are white, a master design detail that flows from the first floor to the second. The stair treads and new room flooring are constructed with 1 ½ inch solid Red Oak, an excellent choice that soaks up sunshine and offers a complement to the light gray walls and white trim and accents. I hate dusting. Doesn't everyone? The arrow above points to a place where dust can collect on mission-style railings, right at the crevice of the bottom of the stair railing. That severe crack makes it difficult to clean. On my projects (like the one above), the bottom rail straightens out and then connects to the banister at a right angle, eliminating the dust trap which is always hard to reach!

The bathroom was constructed as an addition to the master bedroom. The vanity and the toilet are floating and mounted to the wall to give a light weight feeling and openness. the huge double shower is perfect for two people to enjoy simultaneously and the curbless design (no step in) \ the open walk in area makes it easy and fun to use. the floor tile are the contrasting touch and together with the peitra gray top of the shower benches give the color punch that a white bathroom needs.
