Designed and built by Geshtalt Homes, this luxury Colleyville, Texas renovation reimagines the heart of the home through a sophisticated open-concept great room that seamlessly connects the kitchen and family living areas. The design embraces warmth, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance, creating a space that is equally suited for everyday living and entertaining.
At the center of the kitchen, a substantial island with waterfall-edge quartzite countertops serves as both a visual focal point and a functional gathering space. Rich, dark-stained custom cabinetry establishes a sense of depth and refinement, while select cabinet elevations feature decorative custom grilles backed with French antique mirror, introducing texture, character, and subtle reflection throughout the room. Beneath the cabinetry, dark hand-scraped wood flooring grounds the space and complements the home's sophisticated palette.
The adjoining family room is anchored by a dramatic linear fireplace framed with a floor-to-ceiling stone surround, creating a striking architectural feature that draws the eye upward and reinforces the room's scale. Custom built-in wine storage on either side of the fireplace adds both function and visual balance while enhancing the home's entertainment-focused design.
Thoughtfully planned and meticulously executed, this multi-room renovation reflects Geshtalt Homes' commitment to creating distinctive living environments that blend luxury materials, architectural detail, and everyday comfort into a cohesive and highly personalized home.

Overthinking a situation isn’t always a bad thing, particularly when the home in question is one in which the past is suddenly meeting the present. Originally designed by Finnish architect Olav Hammarstrom in 1952 for fellow architect Eero Saarinen, this unique home recently received its first transformation in decades. Still in its 1950s skin, it was completely gutted, inside and out. It was a serious undertaking, as the homeowner wanted modern upgrades, while keeping an eye toward retaining the home’s 1950s charm. She had a vision for her home, and she stuck to it from beginning to end.
Perched on a rise of land and overlooking the tranquil Wellfleet Herring Pond, the home initially appears split, with the guest house on the left, and the main house of the right, but both ends are connected with a breezeway. The original home’s bones were in good shape, but many upgrades and replacements were necessary to bring the house up to date.
New siding, roofing, gutters, insulation and mechanical systems were all replaced. Doors and windows with metal frames were custom made by a company in Long Island that fabricates doors for office buildings. Modern heating and cooling systems were added, and the three bathrooms were all updated. The footprint of the home remained unchanged. Inside, the only expansion was more closet space.
The attention to detail in retaining the 50s-style look took a lot of online searching, from handles and knobs to lighting fixtures, with bits and pieces arriving from all over the world, including a doorstop from New Zealand. The homeowner selected many of the fixtures herself, while a very detail-oriented foreman exhaustively researched as well, looking for just the right piece for each and every location.
High-end appliances were purchased to modernize the kitchen and all of the old cabinetry was removed, replaced and refaced with NUVACOR, a versatile surfacing material that not only provided a sleek, modern look, but added convenience and ease of use.
Bare, wood-beamed ceilings throughout give a nod to the home’s natural surroundings, while the main living area (formerly a fisherman’s cabin), with a brick fireplace, was completely trimmed in walnut, while multiple windows of varying sizes welcome sunlight to brighten the home. Here, the sheetrock ceiling with faux rafters provides an interesting and room-brightening feature.
Behind the house sits the serene pond, which can now be enjoyed from the stunning new deck. Here, decking material was not laid out side by side, as it typically is but, instead, meticulously laid out on edge, creating an unusual and eye-catching effect. A railing of tempered glass panels allows unobstructed views of the surrounding natural beauty, and keeps consistent with the open, airy feel of the place. A new outdoor shower is accessible via the deck and left open to the wilderness and the pond below, completing the bold yet sophisticated feeling of this retro-modern home.

Create a more modern feel with wide stripes. The light bounces off the shimmery wallpaper.

The Home
Inspired by a family’s desire for peace and serenity, this beautiful updated twist on the modern farmhouse is a dream come true for
this Texas family that now calls Colorado their home. Placed perfectly on a higher elevation of Flying Horse, this sanctuary takes its
queues from the restorative nature of the cooler hills and greener landscapes that surround it. “Unexpected” is the take on this home’s
indoor/outdoor living. The rooms flow seamlessly from gathering places, to cooking, dining and entertaining areas and out to decks
and patios where homeowners and guests alike find it irresistible to just relax. It is easy to understand why coming home here is the
best part of the day.
Throughout this beautiful retreat, traditional impressions meld with new sensibilities and creative ingenuity. Wide, white, oak plank
flooring, distressed brick, crisscross beams, ship-lap that climbs the walls, varied weights of white millwork and a meticulous mix of
painted and wood-stained cabinets and doors exude warmth and encourage friends to stay longer than they ever planned they would. Sophisticated living at its casual best.
Subtle but stylish, this family home is designed as a place where unforgettable memories will be made and family will stay connected
- a gracious lifestyle of thanksgiving and joy that is truly “All About Home”.

With that move, a premiere home building and design company, All About Home Design/Build, was formed. Their first project in 2014 had the honor of winning CSHBA Best Overall Home and the People’s Choice Award and they have followed it up each year since.
With an uncompromising eye for detail, passion for quality and creativity, and striving for the most value for the dollar, Scott and his team have learned what it takes to turn a client’s vision into reality. The Interior Design
If there is something that never goes out of style, it’s listening to the client and understanding what they want. This gorgeous home speaks to its owner’s sense of class and curated style with muted hues that change subtly from room to room. Mixed metals, weathered materials, white painted trim, layers of tone and texture, and RH fabric colors hovering between driftwood and stone combine to form a quieter look, while industrial touches like black windows and metal stair railings give it an “edge”.
Design is like mixology: put in different ingredients and shake up something amazing. Mix styles - casual with formal, traditional with modern - to create a look that feels fresh and brand new. Designed as a place for fun family living, this home is a must see both inside and out.
