A vibrant homeowner enjoys this colorful county kitchen. We've combined vintage green cabinetry at the built-in refrigerator with cordovan stained maple cabinets and range details in a burnished bronze oak. Note the turned posts, the arched furniture feet on the cabinets, and beautiful wood floor. The homeowner added the finishing touches with the vintage plate rack, hanging pan racks, and fun, and checkerboard tile backsplash.

Reheat mode:
Reheat mode uses steam and hot air to rehydrate food gently. Using convection and the right amount of moisture, Reheat mode warms one to four pans of food evenly and without drying with a temperature range from 210°F to 300°F.
Auto Steam Bake mode:
By heating with steam first, then using convection heat to finish, bagels, breads, buns, rolls and pastries acquire a tender interior and a natural shine without the need for brushing with an egg wash. Auto Steam Bake mode temperatures range from 210°F to 445°F.
Convection mode:
A fan circulates hot air from a heating element at the back of the oven to distribute heat evenly around food for consistent results and browning. Convection mode temperatures range from 85°F to 445°F.
Convection Humid mode:
In Convection Humid mode, a heating element at the back of the oven produces heat and oven ventilation is sealed so that moisture produced during cooking remains in the oven. Convection Humid temperatures range from 85°F to 445°F.
Convection Steam mode:
Use Convection Steam for any foods you want to be tender inside and roasted or crisped outside. Convection steam mode temperatures range from 85°F to 445°F.
Gourmet mode:
Gourmet mode uses a climate sensor to adjust time, temperature and humidity for ideal results with no guesswork.

Keep Warm mode:
The combination of convection and steam heat preserves food’s taste, texture, looks and quality so every bite is as delicious as if it were fresh from the oven. Keep multiple dinner plates warm at once, making staggered meal times more convenient.
Temperature probe:
The temperature probe alerts you when your dish has reached the desired temperature, eliminating guesswork when preparing roasts and other meats.

"Designing the kosher meat kitchen was very challenging,” says Carol DeBear. “The tight space had only a microwave, a hot plate, and a tiny refrigerator. But everyone I reached out to said, ‘Yes! What can we do to help?’” DeBear installed a 24-inch Sub-Zero refrigerator and a Wolfmicrowave/convection oven with a Sabbath mode, a timer that turns the oven on and off for observant residents. The backsplash became the focal point here, with a hand-painted scene of Jerusalem done by decorative painter Kristin Linder on tile supplied by Cancos.

The clients were looking for a complete update of their original 1960's kitchen. They requested a clean and fresh look that would withstand the test of time. Although the footprint remained the same, eliminating soffits allowed for full height cabinets and made the space look larger. Brookhaven by Wood-Mode cabinetry, a narrow pull-out pantry cabinet and custom built-in plate rack provide plenty of storage and the dual-fuel Wolf range and Sub-Zero refrigerator are welcome upgrades.
Classic colors of gray and yellow are repeated in the handmade ceramic tile back splash, the granite counter tops, porcelain plank tile flooring, decorative valance and the numerous fabrics.
Antique chairs upholstered with new fabrics and a farmhouse table made from old doors add warmth, while polished nickel hardware and Schonbek crystal pendants add a bit of bling.
The result is a kitchen that is wonderful to cook in as well as being a lovely gathering place for family and friends.

Virginia AIA Merit Award for Excellence in Interior Design | The renovated apartment is located on the third floor of the oldest building on the downtown pedestrian mall in Charlottesville. The existing structure built in 1843 was in sorry shape — framing, roof, insulation, windows, mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing were all completely renewed to serve for another century or more.
What used to be a dark commercial space with claustrophobic offices on the third floor and a completely separate attic was transformed into one spacious open floor apartment with a sleeping loft. Transparency through from front to back is a key intention, giving visual access to the street trees in front, the play of sunlight in the back and allowing multiple modes of direct and indirect natural lighting. A single cabinet “box” with hidden hardware and secret doors runs the length of the building, containing kitchen, bathroom, services and storage. All kitchen appliances are hidden when not in use. Doors to the left and right of the work surface open fully for access to wall oven and refrigerator. Functional and durable stainless-steel accessories for the kitchen and bath are custom designs and fabricated locally.
The sleeping loft stair is both foreground and background, heavy and light: the white guardrail is a single 3/8” steel plate, the treads and risers are folded perforated steel.

This three-room project undertaken by Modern Kitchens of Syracuse encompassed the kitchen, a wet bar/coffee wall, and the laundry room, making this suite of spaces work together seamlessly. Desiring an elegant and highly functional space that is warm and inviting along with creating several areas for eating, cooking and meal prep that could all be enjoyed together, the kitchen and living space took special planning to meet the homeowner’s lifestyle. Complemented by natural lighting design choices, comfortable and functional materials were selected. For example, wood products used for the beams and columns were reclaimed from an old structure, and the kitchen island was designed to be one large piece of custom sized furniture.
The clients chose Lancaster Recessed Inset doors in Nordic White finish for the kitchen perimeter, while a custom stain finish on knotty alder wood was used on the island, the custom hood, and the hutch. Several organizational features including roll-out storage drawers , tray partitions, spice storage drawers, adjustable drawer partitions, a double waste basket cabinet for trash and recycling, dish drawers with plate holders, and large drawers for storage were also incorporated.
