A place for reflection: a contemporary photograph of a Chinese dam joins a patinated brass ceiling fixture and a crystal orb. The dining room became a study which can be used for occasional entertaining, centered upon the Empire round table the clients brought from Colorado. Chairs are from a 1930s ocean liner. Meant to be flexible, the table may be set up as a dining table, buffet, or bar. At right, a portiere in Kravet’s double-sided “Interweave” fabric marks the separation from the bedroom. Boudin armchairs upholstered by Jonas in Bellinger’s vibrant Paprika “Pasha” velvet flank an exquisite late 17th century English crewel embroidery with exotic floral motif, from Fuller’s Fine Art Auction. The antique Korean blanket chest, of elmwood with original iron hardware, is from Jacques Carcanagues. A Victorian Eastlake side table is juxtaposed with a pair of Dorothy Draper walnut tables from Assemblage, Ltd. The long English roll arm sofa in charcoal linen is from Restoration Hardware. This all-steel, seamlessly welded table base is a replica of the client’s original table base, scaled up in size to suit a new, larger dining room. A 3D design rendering ensured all proportions were perfect before building began. Slip-rolled sheet metal follows the base’s exact curves; the applied directional grain and dark patina also match the original. An engineered internal frame ensures the table can easily hold the gorgeous, 400-lb slab of Starphire® glass on top. Seamless welding gives this table base a modern, refined vibe that contrasts with the industrial-yet-primitive look of the anvil shape.

The historic restoration of this First Period Ipswich, Massachusetts home (c. 1686) was an eighteen-month project that combined exterior and interior architectural work to preserve and revitalize this beautiful home. Structurally, work included restoring the summer beam, straightening the timber frame, and adding a lean-to section. The living space was expanded with the addition of a spacious gourmet kitchen featuring countertops made of reclaimed barn wood. As is always the case with our historic renovations, we took special care to maintain the beauty and integrity of the historic elements while bringing in the comfort and convenience of modern amenities. We were even able to uncover and restore much of the original fabric of the house (the chimney, fireplaces, paneling, trim, doors, hinges, etc.), which had been hidden for years under a renovation dating back to 1746. This kitchen was built for a 20 year old reproduction Saltbox house in the Boston area. It has a mixture of blues, oatmeal and barn red distressed painted finishes. And Curly maple and cherry stained finish cabinets. The counter tops are hand scraped curly maple with a brown stain and a food safe oil finish. This is a great looking "Collected" kitchen. The sink is a 30'' soapstone sink.

Designed in a subdued palette of earthy hues, Casa Paros combines the inherent beauty of natural surfaces with a refined, pared-down aesthetic. The look is warm, effortless and tranquil. Understated tactile materials highlight a sense of nomadic minimalism. Weathered, wire-brushed oak, twisted rope, smooth concrete and rustic metal have an artisan feel, while clean lines and primitive forms emphasize textures and the importance of simplicity.
