Inspiration for a small rustic enclosed concrete floor living room library remodel in Philadelphia with no tv, beige walls and no fireplace

A wonderfully unique feature to the house is a screen in Bobbie's office that opens up to view the living room below. Simply constructed of frosted plexi-glass and wood, the screen reflects the roof line and continues to filter light even when closed. This concept is repeated in the master bedroom as well. As the two terraces face each other from across the living room, it leads Bobbie to believe that this room was once a nursery, with the screens acting as primitive baby monitors. "The parents could go to sleep with each set of screens open and hear whatever was stirring in the nursery," Bobbie speculates. Magnolia Home was inspired by the utility of working industrial pieces for their Industrial Framework Dining Table. Its top features a lift-off center that reveals a zinc planter bucket inside. A place for reflection: a contemporary photograph of a Chinese dam joins a patinated brass ceiling fixture and a crystal orb. The dining room became a study which can be used for occasional entertaining, centered upon the Empire round table the clients brought from Colorado. Chairs are from a 1930s ocean liner. Meant to be flexible, the table may be set up as a dining table, buffet, or bar. At right, a portiere in Kravet’s double-sided “Interweave” fabric marks the separation from the bedroom. Boudin armchairs upholstered by Jonas in Bellinger’s vibrant Paprika “Pasha” velvet flank an exquisite late 17th century English crewel embroidery with exotic floral motif, from Fuller’s Fine Art Auction. The antique Korean blanket chest, of elmwood with original iron hardware, is from Jacques Carcanagues. A Victorian Eastlake side table is juxtaposed with a pair of Dorothy Draper walnut tables from Assemblage, Ltd. The long English roll arm sofa in charcoal linen is from Restoration Hardware. The Patrick Naggar candle sconces for Pucci are modern, yet Edison-like, of handblown glass, with bare quartz bulbs. Photograph above the sofa is by Sugimoto. Outsider art, insider ceramics: a charming primitive painted in a hand-made "tramp art" frames joins arts & crafts movement pots. Nothing less than sumptuous, the king sized bed features William-Sonoma’s faintly curving “Sutton” headboard, upholstered in sensuous “Mohair Dove.” The crimson, persimmon, black and cream stylized floral pattern bed covering is an antique Suzani

At the far end of the living room a bronze topped game table is deployed by the window, whose dramatic Central Park views are framed by custom drapes with a decorative plaster cornice, and crisp modern built-ins. Art niches were created to display both primitive and modern pieces. The splayed walls create a wonderful backdrop for standing sculptures. A Dale Chihuly glass piece sits on the window, reflecting the cityscape and panoramic views. The game table is made of mesh metal, resonating and reflecting the brilliance of the light coming through the windows and beaming off the Chihuly. The draperies also echo this reflective brilliance in their iridescent aspect.

This all-steel, seamlessly welded table base is a replica of the client’s original table base, scaled up in size to suit a new, larger dining room. A 3D design rendering ensured all proportions were perfect before building began. Slip-rolled sheet metal follows the base’s exact curves; the applied directional grain and dark patina also match the original. An engineered internal frame ensures the table can easily hold the gorgeous, 400-lb slab of Starphire® glass on top. Seamless welding gives this table base a modern, refined vibe that contrasts with the industrial-yet-primitive look of the anvil shape.

Our new Frame project achieves maximum proportions with a 75cm wide front that creates an almost square door. Old, reclaimed wood with natural iron shelves, a boiserie of times gone by. Situated within a slightly recessed art niche sits a large Richter painting, mirroring the colors and vibrancy of Fifth Avenue's Central Park just outside. Art niches are created to display both primitive and modern pieces. Again, the splayed walls create a wonderful backdrop for standing sculptures.
