This property was developed as a private horse training and breeding facility. A post framed horse barn design is connected to a 70' x 146' engineered steel indoor arena created a tee shaped building. The barn has nine stalls, wash/groom stalls, office, and support spaces on the first floor and a laboratory and storage areas on the second floor. The office and laboratory have windows into the indoor horse riding arena design. The riding arena is day lit from roll-up glass garage doors, translucent panel clerestories, and a translucent panel gable end wall. Site layout; driveways; an outdoor arena; pastures; and a storage building with a manure bunker were also included in the property development.

THEME The theme of this half mile trail through the woods is evident in the fun, creative and all-inclusive obstacles hidden in the natural flow of the land around this amazing family home. The course was created with adults and children, advanced and beginner athletes, competitive and entertaining events all accounted for. Each of the 13 obstacles was designed to be challenging no matter the size, skill or ability of the athlete lucky enough to run the course. FOCUS The focus for this family was to create an outdoor adventure that could be an athletic, social and personal outlet for their entire family while maintaining the natural beauty of the landscape and without altering the sweeping views from the home. The large scale of the challenging obstacles is camouflaged within the landscape using the rolling hills and mature trees as a natural curtain in every season. The beauty of the course does not diminish the functional and demanding nature of the obstacles which are designed to focus on multiple strength, agility, and cardio fitness abilities and intensities. STORAGE The start of the trail includes a raised training area offering a dedicated space clear from the ground to place bags, mats and other equipment used during the run. A small all-terrain storage cart was provided for use with 6 yoga mats, 3 medicine balls of various weights, rings, sprinting cones, and a large digital timer to record laps. GROWTH The course was designed to provide an athletic and fun challenge for children, teens and adults no matter their experience or athletic prowess. This course offers competitive athletes a challenge and budding athletes an opportunity to experience and ignite their passion for physical activity. Homeowner contacted us late 2018 requesting that we design a grand backyard with multiple spaces for entertaining, dinning and enjoying time with friends and family. Their main request was a pizza oven because they enjoyed grilling and cooking for family and friends, We installed a large Chicago brick oven using Unilock Brussels river blend with El Campo Mocha accents for the masonry work (pizza oven, bar and oversized fireplace). For the paver patio, we used Unilock Bristol Valley Bavarian Blend to compliment the other hardscape work as well as the home. Our masonry team designed and built a 48” custom wood box to store the wood next to the oversized fireplace. As a focal point between the fireplace and pizza oven we installed a shear decent waterfall feature coming out of the masonry. Next to the pizza oven we installed a bar area for guests to gather along with a large prep area for the homeowner to make pizzas Forty tons of Ohio stone boulders were installed to expand the yard and support the large patio space. The homeowner requested a unique gas fire feature, so we expanded on the idea creating a custom fire table with oversized cap for cocktails in the evening. With the home on a high-side wooded lot tucked into the trees, our design incorporated native plantings to fill the landscaping space around the home. We created a large entertaining space in a small backyard.

This distinctly divided yet beautifully merged Glen Ellyn, IL kitchen takes the classic white to another level. The clean lines of the flat panel white cabinetry and polished design are easy on the eyes, complemented by the earth tones found in the subway tile, pendant lighting over the island, and soft seating. This large family can enjoy multiple seating areas, around the island, and at a dedicated space showcasing their impressive farm table. More then ample accessible storage provides enough places to hide any pots, pans and small appliances, while not sacrificing the views and natural light. The midpoint integrated built in Thermador Refrigerator serves as the anchor of the kitchen. Prep areas include miles of quartz counters along with a small but practically placed island sink. The warmth and comfort in this dream kitchen highlights design trends while also fulfilling the client’s request for a kitchen with a family focus.

Inspiration for a mid-sized contemporary gender-neutral reach-in closet remodel in Miami with open cabinets and white cabinets

Our client desired a functional, tasteful, and improved environment to compliment their home. The overall goal was to create a landscape that was subtle and not overdone. The client was highly focused on their deck environment that would span across the rear of the house with an area for a Jacuzzi as well. A portion of the deck has a screened in porch due to the naturally buggy environment since the home is situated in the woods and a low area. A mosquito repellent injection system was incorporated into the irrigation system to help with the bug issue. We improved circulation of the driveway, increased the overall curb appeal of the entrance of the home, and created a scaled and proportional outdoor living environment for the clients to enjoy. The client has religious guidelines that needed to be adhered to with the overall function and design of the landscape, which included an arbor over the deck to support a Sukkah and a Green Egg smoker to cook Kosher foods. Two columns were added at the driveway entrance with lights to help define their driveway entrance since it's the end of a long pipe-stem. New light fixtures were also added to the rear of the house. Our client desired multiple amenities with a limited budget, so everything had to be value engineered through the design and construction process. There is heavy deer pressure on the site, a mosquito issue, low site elevations, flat topography, poor soil, and overall poor drainage of the site. The original driveway was not sized appropriately and the front porch had structural issues, as well as leaked water onto the landing below. At 35+ years, this Ft Worth lake-home is wearing it’s age very well. To freshen up the surrounding landscaping and supporting elements, our clients dreamed of an avant garde look for both the front and backyard outdoor living space that tied together. One Specialty designed a re-imagined driveway, address monument, welcoming area and Xeriscape landscaping for the front. We constructed a multi-level deck made with Trex, complete with an outdoor kitchen and outdoor bar in the backyard, resulting in multiple vignettes for entertaining which are fully wheelchair accessible. THEME A passion for sports that never grows up, never grows old and never tires is at the heart of this room. Designed as a den/office for a radio sports talent who’s life work revolves around stats, scores, free agents and athletes, the room ensures that its owner is surrounded by the teams and games he loves, with room for storage, a desk, a computer station and some personal accents. FOCUS Four baseball stadium seats procured from the old Tiger Stadium in Detroit, repainted with a faux wood grain look and personalized with each member of the family’s name give the room a true sports feel. Favorite team jerseys as well as team logos — painted tan to match the overall look of the room — highlight the space. Large wall towers divide the room into three distinct spaces. The central area houses two TV monitors and a hidden computer system, while the other two areas display oversized family photos in sepia tone prints and custom, matching frames. The towers, which provide storage, were purchased at Pottery Barn, and already in the room. To make them more functional, height was added to bring them to the ceiling, and the room’s crown molding is taken around each tower’s top to create a seamless flow. STORAGE The creation of the towers gives the room plenty of useful storage, including display areas, multiple shelves, and a place to hide computer accessories and office supplies. GROWTH The room can easily change over time as new sports memorabilia and family photos are added or switched out. SAFETY All wires for the monitors and computer system are hidden within the wall and inside the storage towers. Power running to digital frames dedicated to particular teams is hidden within the walls.
