Bathroom - bathroom idea in Seattle

This space started as a living room with green carpet, 2 walls with 8’-wide bay windows, and a third wall that was open to the front entrance and hallway of the home. We framed in the hallway so that it’d house one of two closets and the new bedroom door. We then popped through the fourth wall to move the entrance of the hall bathroom to create a master-suite. Now to the finishes. Every wall has a texture on it to create warmth and a cozy mood. One wall has two new nearly floor-to-ceiling windows topped with subfloor pieces we grabbed from the kitchen, and covered with historic street pavers pulled from the Midwest. We installed traditional bead-board paneling on the headboard wall, but stopped it high up so that it serves as both a headboard and art allowing for simplicity and less stuff in the room. We painted it a moody soft black to give the room an intimate feel. The first closet has a vintage barn door for texture, and the bathroom wall houses a second closet created by building a vintage UofM cabinet into the wall, which houses a TV and loads of clothes, that we then flanked with a custom hanging-clothes closet and some hidden HVAC both covered in 8” wood paneling. We continue the texture on the floor with the addition of a mix of reclaimed hardwoods that we had milled into flooring, sealed with a natural wax to maintain its old-world charm. The lighting is simple. Just various sizes of exposed light bulbs dangling from cloth-covered wires and tied up in a loose knot. We styled it with just a few simple but bold furniture pieces as the architectural elements in this space are the true focal point.

The clients designed and installed this fireplace using my 6" file tie, 3x6 3D tile and3x3" maple leaf tile. The center heron tiles are made by john Beasly.

Transitional bedroom photo in Los Angeles

A beautiful hand loomed pure wool carpeting was used on this project. This subtle pattern can be used in a modern or transitional space. The dark hardwood floor relates nicely with the Taupe, White and Grey colors in the carpet. Our fabrication team used a complimentary color in a cotton binding material to complete the sides. Our installer completed this staircase install within a two day time frame. Wool carpet is a great choice for a staircase because it is an easy material to clean, stain resistant and flame retardant.

An enchanting mix of rustic and elegant elements, We designed this room around the beautiful pictures that ornament its’ walls. Each photo has a deep meaning for our client, who photographed them while on a trip to New York City with her father. It was there that she was shown the place her parents fell in love: the steps where they would talk for hours, where they first saw each other and experienced that sacred “love at first sight moment”. Inspired by these photos we filtered them in a beautifully sentimental sepia tone. We custom framed these images in thick gold and they became our vision for the room. Following the color ways of the photos, the room carries deep gray and brown tones as well as a pop of purple color with the sofa. Throughout the room we incorporated various finishes of wood, antique brass, lacquer and iron to establish a stunning contrast that became cohesive. We mixed luxurious elements, like the white lacquer candleholders, golden bookends and black chalices atop the more rustic unfinished wooden table to create a beautiful display. The pillows decorating the sofa mixed both textures and finishes from sheen to matte in keeping with the theme of different style elements becoming harmonious. In the two front corners rest chairs of a deeper gray, with a luxe brown throw and golden pillow that further enrich the sepia-tone feel of the photographs. Each element was carefully designed with these photos in mind, to evoke the nostalgic feeling of the images and provide our client and her family a place in which they can relax, reminisce and truly enjoy their time with one another.
