Inspiration for a timeless l-shaped dark wood floor eat-in kitchen remodel in Dallas with shaker cabinets, white cabinets, gray backsplash, subway tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances and an island

Old farmhouses offer charm and character but usually need some careful changes to efficiently serve the needs of today’s families. This blended family of four desperately desired a master bath and walk-in closet in keeping with the exceptional features of the home. At the top of the list were a large shower, double vanity, and a private toilet area. They also requested additional storage for bathroom items. Windows, doorways could not be relocated, but certain nonloadbearing walls could be removed. Gorgeous antique flooring had to be patched where walls were removed without being noticeable. Original interior doors and woodwork were restored. Deep window sills give hints to the thick stone exterior walls. A local reproduction furniture maker with national accolades was the perfect choice for the cabinetry which was hand planed and hand finished the way furniture was built long ago. Even the wood tops on the beautiful dresser and bench were rich with dimension from these techniques. The legs on the double vanity were hand turned by Amish woodworkers to add to the farmhouse flair. Marble tops and tile as well as antique style fixtures were chosen to complement the classic look of everything else in the room. It was important to choose contractors and installers experienced in historic remodeling as the old systems had to be carefully updated. Every item on the wish list was achieved in this project from functional storage and a private water closet to every aesthetic detail desired. Nestled within Lucarno – a village neighborhood inspired by the charm and classic style of Europe’s Mediterranean region – the four-bedroom, single-family villa has won numerous awards for its design. Fully furnished by Romanza Interior Design, the Capriano’s 4,402-square-foot open floor plan features a great room with linear fireplace, adjoining wine bar and library with pocket sliding glass doors that open to an outdoor living and kitchen area. A trio of arches frame views of a custom pool and spa, a lake and Mediterra’s Parterre Gardens. The master suite features a bathroom with glass partitions that offer views of a private garden from the freestanding tub. An open staircase with decorative railing ends at a wet bar positioned to serve a second-floor lounge and guest suite with balcony, while a sun deck offers a bird’s eye view of the lake and gardens.

The kitchen that opens to a small family and dining room in a Mid Century modern home built by a student of Eichler. This Eichler inspired home was completely renovated and restored to meet current structural, electrical, and energy efficiency codes as it was in serious disrepair when purchased as well as numerous and various design elements being inconsistent with the original architectural intent of the house from subsequent remodels.

From color-less to color-full, this kitchen is the eye catching focal point of this home. Our clients had numerous pieces of colorful glassware from their world travels that they wanted to showcase. The upper four cabinet doors were modified for clear glass to match the existing pair of glass cabinets. The existing wood cabinets were painted white and the upper cabinets were accented with LED lighting inside and underneath. A gorgeous piece of Calcutta marble with natural red veining compliments the red painted island and the new custom red pantry door. The arabesque Calcutta backsplash offers a soft but elegant touch to the white quartz countertops around the perimeter of the kitchen. All new KitchenAid appliances were installed and a new dimmable lighting plan throughout the space offers optimal lighting for any time of day.
