Completed in 2019, this is a home we completed for client who initially engaged us to remodeled their 100 year old classic craftsman bungalow on Seattle’s Queen Anne Hill. During our initial conversation, it became readily apparent that their program was much larger than a remodel could accomplish and the conversation quickly turned toward the design of a new structure that could accommodate a growing family, a live-in Nanny, a variety of entertainment options and an enclosed garage – all squeezed onto a compact urban corner lot.
Project entitlement took almost a year as the house size dictated that we take advantage of several exceptions in Seattle’s complex zoning code. After several meetings with city planning officials, we finally prevailed in our arguments and ultimately designed a 4 story, 3800 sf house on a 2700 sf lot. The finished product is light and airy with a large, open plan and exposed beams on the main level, 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, 2 powder rooms, 2 fireplaces, 4 climate zones, a huge basement with a home theatre, guest suite, climbing gym, and an underground tavern/wine cellar/man cave. The kitchen has a large island, a walk-in pantry, a small breakfast area and access to a large deck. All of this program is capped by a rooftop deck with expansive views of Seattle’s urban landscape and Lake Union.
Unfortunately for our clients, a job relocation to Southern California forced a sale of their dream home a little more than a year after they settled in after a year project. The good news is that in Seattle’s tight housing market, in less than a week they received several full price offers with escalator clauses which allowed them to turn a nice profit on the deal.

The new plan began from the ground up, with in-floor heating. The new floor is constructed with 6” X 24” Porcelain planks that look great. The walk-in shower walls are constructed with 12” x 18” Travertine Porcelain tiles. The shower floor, niche, and border were crafted using 2” x 2” slate Porcelain with Travertine pencils (the border treatment).
The shower features a Kohler rubbed oil shower control valve, and ceiling-mounted 11-inch rubbed oil rain shower head. It’s a great combination for this beautiful shower.
Each vanity features Siena cream polished Granite countertops with a 3/16 radius finished edge. Under-mounted white sinks and oil-rubbed faucets add a touch of elegance. And the custom raised panel vanity was installed where the Jacuzzi was.
The owners chose Benjamin Moore “Majestic Sage #1532” as the wall color choice, which works well to complement the dark stained vanities.
The final touch: Instead of a Jacuzzi the remodeled bath has a comfortable Ottoman, making this a room that is warm, inviting, and comfortable.
The owners love the result, and are looking forward to the next project.

Looking to build a series of homes in the picturesque Silver Lake section of Los Angeles, California the P. Joseph Development Corporation hit upon the idea of carving out a hill. Though this project necessitated a high level of planning and coordination with multiple firms and city officials, the end result was clearly worth it.
Completed in 2019, the SJ Eaight complex houses eight units, each one offering scenic views of Silver Lake, the famous man-made reservoir that’s been enticing transplants and tourists for decades. And Milgard® Tuscany® Series | V400 vinyl windows and doors frame the amazing views of the east-central L.A. neighborhood.

This commercial employee lounge originally it felt cold and sterile making it an unpleasant place to relax and take a break. With the addition of new light fixtures, appliances, art, and decorations, we were able to transform this space into what I call an “Industrial Retreat”! It is officially the new hang out spot. ?
These employees serve the community every day so it was nice to show them how much their well-being is valued. ✨

Taking into account the client’s lifestyle, needs and vision, we presented a contemporary design with an industrial converted-warehouse feel inspired by a photo the clients love. The showpiece is the functioning garage door which separates a 3-season room and open deck.
While, officially a 3-season room, additional features were implemented to extend the usability of the space in both hot and cold months. Examples include removable glass and screen panels, power screen at garage door, ceiling fans, a heated tile floor, gas fire pit and a covered grilling station complete with an exterior-grade range hood, gas line and access to both the 3-season room and new mudroom.

This steeply sloped property was converted into a backyard retreat through the use of natural and man-made stone. The natural gunite swimming pool includes a sundeck and waterfall and is surrounded by a generous paver patio, seat walls and a sunken bar. A Koi pond, bocce court and night-lighting provided add to the interest and enjoyment of this landscape.
This beautiful redesign was also featured in the Interlock Design Magazine. Explained perfectly in ICPI, “Some spa owners might be jealous of the newly revamped backyard of Wayne, NJ family: 5,000 square feet of outdoor living space, complete with an elevated patio area, pool and hot tub lined with natural rock, a waterfall bubbling gently down from a walkway above, and a cozy fire pit tucked off to the side. The era of kiddie pools, Coleman grills and fold-up lawn chairs may be officially over.”

Walk-in shower - large contemporary master gray tile and marble tile ceramic tile and multicolored floor walk-in shower idea in Cleveland with shaker cabinets, dark wood cabinets, a hot tub, a two-piece toilet, gray walls, an undermount sink, quartz countertops, a hinged shower door and white countertops

Our mission was to completely update and transform their huge house into a cozy, welcoming and warm home of their own.
“When we moved in, it was such a novelty to live in a proper house. But it still felt like the in-law’s home,” our clients told us. “Our dream was to make it feel like our home.”
Our transformation skills were put to the test when we created the host-worthy kitchen space (complete with a barista bar!) that would double as the heart of their home and a place to make memories with their friends and family.
We upgraded and updated their dark and uninviting family room with fresh furnishings, flooring and lighting and turned those beautiful exposed beams into a feature point of the space.
The end result was a flow of modern, welcoming and authentic spaces that finally felt like home. And, yep … the invite was officially sent out!
Our clients had an eclectic style rich in history, culture and a lifetime of adventures. We wanted to highlight these stories in their home and give their memorabilia places to be seen and appreciated.
The at-home office was crafted to blend subtle elegance with a calming, casual atmosphere that would make it easy for our clients to enjoy spending time in the space (without it feeling like they were working!)
We carefully selected a pop of color as the feature wall in the primary suite and installed a gorgeous shiplap ledge wall for our clients to display their meaningful art and memorabilia.
Then, we carried the theme all the way into the ensuite to create a retreat that felt complete.

The list was long. Very long. And the level of remodeling they needed was a too demanding for these very capable empty nester DIYers to handle on their own. That’s not surprising since they wanted to remodel their kitchen, living room, entryway, and add a garage/office/bedroom addition off the side of their home.
“I think what was really driving this remodel was the shared desire to liberate this home from its 60’s style (dark paneling) and confined layout,” recalls Murphy Bros. designer Courtney Cartee. “They needed more space everywhere, from the kitchen to the adjoining entryway and living room. In short they really needed a whole new look and layout.”
So we suggested a three-part solution. A completely new kitchen, which required the removal of a giant stone fireplace, that was causing all kinds of space issues in both living room, entry and kitchen.
The second part of the design involved an addition to the side of the property, which added another garage stall and an office/bedroom above. “I can remember going in front of the city hall officials to get approval for the variance to add on the garage addition,” remembers Cartee. “They were very impressed with how our design integrated the addition with the existing exterior of the home. They remarked that so many remodels in their city now are just tear downs instead of taking the time and imagination to work with what’s already there.”
The third aspect of the design had to do with the entry and upgrading the exterior of the home. The entry is now wider and the whole house was painted to achieve much better curb appeal, which can have a big impact on first impressions for resale and simple pride.
“Before they had just enough room for barely two people in their kitchen. I mean it was really tight. Once we got that fireplace out, that opened up everything. Now they can have the whole family in that space and still be able to move around and entertain,” says Cartee.
Island & perimeter countertop: Azure Quartzite slab from Brazil.
Backsplash: Dockside Gale Stria porcelain and glass wall tile

This large traditional Master Bath layout included a very small glass shower that was centered in the room. It was replaced with this octagonal his and her tiled shower. The design incorporated 4 of the shower walls to extend fully to the ceiling to incorporate the crown molding and 4 of the walls to be left lower to allow for secondary light to enter, A large jetted tub is built into the front of the shower with fully tiled seating all the way around. The shower included a 6 foot bench seat inside along with his and hers fully tiled soap niches. The soft beige travertine complimented the existing cabinetry and trim color that was not changed
