Jennifer Hazen from Reico Kitchen and Bath in Charlottesville, VA, collaborated with Nick Greenwood of Prevail Construction to create a transitional kitchen design featuring Merillat Masterpiece cabinetry.
The kitchen’s perimeter cabinets feature the Montresano door style in a Moonshine finish, while the beverage bar and wall cabinets are in a Lagoon finish. The countertop is MSI Q Calacatta Miraggio Cielo.
The kitchen also features a Whirlpool beverage refrigerator and an 18” full height quartz backsplash in the same color as the countertop for clean, continuous look and feel.
The client, delighted with the project outcome, shared their experience. “Our project involved a complete demolition of four areas—our Kitchen, Bathroom, Pantry, and Laundry Room. These were all combined into one open space Kitchen area. Jennifer has excellent taste and skillfully recommended elements that seamlessly came together to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing kitchen. The level of detail that she put into the plan amazed me and it ensured that all of the contractors knew exactly what to do.”
“We are extremely happy with the outcome of the kitchen. The open space is very functional and makes using our kitchen a joy. Thank you Reico and Jennifer for such a positive experience!”
Jennifer shared insights into the labor of love behind the design, stating, “The most challenging part was concealing a full-size stackable washer/dryer within a run that included a double oven, a 36" refrigerator, and an unmovable wall due to water pipes. We bumped everything out to 36" to create a functional face-frame for laundry, double oven, and a 9" pantry.”
During the planning stage, Jennifer expressed her excitement about the homeowners embracing unique design elements. "I was thrilled as the homeowners selecting design elements such as the full-height splash behind the range and the waterfall leg at the espresso bar bookcase."

This dream renovation transformed the primary bathroom, kids' bathroom, guest bathroom, kitchen, and living room. Tailored to the client's desired outcome, the luxurious transformation combines understated elegance with personalized luxury. In the primary bathroom, the striking statement wall, featuring Arabescato Corchia porcelain, and the Calacatta D'Este honed floors create a serene and sophisticated ambiance. The custom-made vanity, with its black matte hardware, adds a touch of contemporary sophistication to the daily routine. The kids' and guest bathrooms were designed to complement the home's aesthetic in a more relaxed yet elevated style. The kitchen underwent a stunning revamp with a faux grasscloth wallpaper, new counter stools, and an oval table to create a more spacious and versatile atmosphere. Additionally, the new window treatments with a geometrical yet sophisticated pattern added a fresh touch to the room. In the living room, we added a new carpet, new window treatments, and updated the lighting fixtures with a floor lamp and table lamp, as well as a new patterned rug. Overall, the outcome of this project was a harmonious blend of.emphasizing contemporary comfort that prioritized functionality, and understated luxury.

After installing new Granite countertops, this client decided to reface their existing 1990’s Honey Oak stained cabinets. They chose to reface the cabinets in Select Cherry veneer in a Burgundy stain. New ‘raised panel’ shaker style of doors in a matching stain gave this kitchen makeover a beautiful outcome.
New pot drawers were installed in the peninsula top area of the cabinets. 3 ½” crown moldings were added to replace the original ¾” crown moldings on the original cabinets. New Blum SoftClose hinges and Amerock Stainless Bar handles were used throughout.
The outcome was truly stunning and the client is VERY happy with this transformation.

Rooms filled with light, fine art and antique furniture were the backdrops for our "Kentfield Collected" project. This was an overall home refresh and our team loved the challenge of bringing new life to the exquisite existing collection of art and antiques. We started with thoughtful space planning to achieve an overall outcome that is more pleasing for the clients' enjoyment of the home when each room feels more balanced. The refreshing of exciting items and the selection of a few new pieces brought a touch of light, beauty and pop of unexpected that paired beautifully with the treasured finds of the homeowners. In the powder bath, the poppy wall covering, navy vanity and silvery metallic ceiling paint is one of the pops of unexpected delight you will find in the home. Our team designed beautiful linen draperies in a creamy gold-tone that perfectly framed the amazing view from the dining room windows. The buffet in a dark navy with a faux Belgian linen finish and a pair of crystal lamps were the right balance to complement the wall art in the room. The addition of a game table to the living room framed by a mirror and scones is an ideal spot for a game of cards or stunning flowers. The reupholstered chaise took on a hip and vibrant vibe in a lush green velvet fabric and placed in a perfectly edited guest suite. Custom outdoor cushions and pillows create a spot to enjoy the deck and views at the end of the day. Let us also not forget Buster (our project mascot) welcoming guests to this fine-tuned Kentfield beauty. This modern home with hints of classic design is situated on a hilltop estate in Pacific Palisades, California. Architect and Designer, Michelle Anaya, took on the challenge of renovating the home into the breathtaking residence that it is today. The home features Hallmark Floors: Engineered Hardwood Floors throughout most of the interior. The vision of the interior design was influenced by the outdoors. The home boasts a world-class view highlighted by large windows featuring some of the best sights in the country. Five rigorous years of planning, detailed designing, and extensive renovating resulted in a stunning outcome. “The color of the floor was the perfect selection to compliment the home’s natural landscape with the interior. I needed a floor that would compliment these natural colors… I didn’t want to compete with the sky, the greenery, and the ocean. The floors came out amazing!”
