I worked with CAD Development to select the cabinetry and stone/tile for this lovely new construction home in Westchester County. The original master bath suite in this rustic lake house possessed high ceilings with multiple rooms and all surfaces covered in Knotty Pine. Although there were multiple windows in this space, the wood walls, floor and ceiling tended to absorb natural light and force the illumination to come from incandescent Amber fixtures. Our approach was to start with a blank slate by removing all existing partitions and doors. A metal and milk glass wall with a functioning transom and integrated door, was designed and fabricated to divide the space and provide privacy, while allowing light to transfer from the shower, water-closet, bath and dressing room. The welded steel frames his and hers vanities have inlaid white glass panels with integrated steel framed mirrors above.

For the William Cook House (c. 1809) in downtown Beverly, Massachusetts, we were asked to create an addition to create spatial and aesthetic continuity between the main house, a front courtyard area, and the backyard pool. Our carriage house design provides a functional and inviting extension to the home’s public façade and creates a unique private space for personal enjoyment and entertaining. The two-car garage features a game room on the second story while a striking exterior brick wall with built-in outdoor fireplace anchors the pool deck to the home, creating a wonderful outdoor haven in the home’s urban setting. Its 75" oval veneered wood 18 mm thick top reveals an inviting starburst design that evokes a calming effect, further enhancing your dining experience. The brockton-oval comfortably seats up to 8 guests.

After having lived in 22 different places all around the world, this family decided to settle in a Dutch colonial home in Harding Township. The house sits on a wonderful piece of property that is only challenged by the wetlands that surround it. For this reason, we had to work within the existing footprint and not consider any additions. The homeowners wanted to be able to host the holidays in their new home which meant we had an aggressive design and construction schedule. We started the design work in the Spring of 2012 and construction took place over the Summer and into the Fall. By Thanksgiving, the project was complete, with no meaningful cost overruns. Renovations included a new kitchen, mudroom, and office/library on the first floor and a new master suite, hall bath, home office, and laundry room upstairs. The challenge was creating comfortable space with clean lines that would accommodate the homeowner’s casual and worldly lifestyle, but would not feel out of place with the character of the existing house. The kitchen is a glorious hard-working space with lots of counter space, space for a giant farmer’s table, and symmetrical views through oversized double hung-windows out to the expansive yard. The master bath is outfitted with wood, stone, and metal, and also includes artifacts from some of their world travels. In a second phase of work, we designed some outbuilding to further enhance the character of the property. Currently we are working with the family to design a memorial to honor their child who died of Leukemia.
