The first floor guest suite includes a private bathroom and walk in closet.
If you have overnight or long-term guests, a designated bathroom may be your number one priority - especially for guests who would appreciate privacy.
Design Tip: consider nixing the tub - and adding a walk-in shower.
Many new home master suites (and guest suites) are focusing on the shower and leaving out the tub.

The main guest bathroom is equipped with a full shower, skylight and windows. A wide vanity provides plenty of storage for supplies and overnight guests. The bathroom connects with jack-and-jill doors to the family room and to a small guest bedroom

Guests feel pampered in this lake-side bedroom, not only by the view but the modern, four-poster bed, the custom bedding and window treatments. We lacquered a treasured family "fish" chair to give it new life in this space.

Merrill House is a gracious, Early American Country Estate located in the picturesque Androscoggin River Valley, about a half hour northeast of Sunday River Ski Resort, Maine. This baronial estate, once a trophy of successful American frontier family and railroads industry publisher, Henry Varnum Poor, founder of Standard & Poor’s Corp., is comprised of a grand main house, caretaker’s house, and several barns. Entrance is through a Gothic great hall standing 30’ x 60’ and another 30’ high in the apex of its cathedral ceiling and showcases a granite hearth and mantel 12’ wide.
Owned by the same family for over 225 years, it is currently a family retreat and is available for seasonal weddings and events with the capacity to accommodate 32 overnight guests and 200 outdoor guests. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and heralding contributions from Frederick Law Olmsted and Stanford White, the beautiful, legacy property sits on 110 acres of fields and forest with expansive views of the scenic Ellis River Valley and Mahoosuc mountains, offering more than a half-mile of pristine river-front, private spring-fed pond and beach, and 5 acres of manicured lawns and gardens.
The historic property can be envisioned as a magnificent private residence, ski lodge, corporate retreat, hunting and fishing lodge, potential bed and breakfast, farm - with options for organic farming, commercial solar, storage or subdivision.
Showings offered by appointment.

Creating an inviting, comfortable spot in your home for overnight guests can be tricky. While some homeowners dedicate a spare bedroom for this occasional use, others opt to utilize space in a basement or room over the garage.
When the team at Legum Design in Bend, Oregon, was tapped to create guest space for a client’s home in nearby Tumalo, their starting point was a 100-year-old barn.

Guest bedroom featuring custom photo mural of San Francisco's "Cupid's Span" by Claes Oldenburg, framed by the Bay Bridge. Graphic black and white design elements and artwork, combined with reclaimed wood accents make this a clean and comfy retreat for out of town guests and family. We created a guest room that multi-tasks as a den and home office. Sliding barn doors, with Asian-inspired hardware, blend with the Raspberry Pudding red wall and offer privacy for overnight guests. A contemporary Deco-style console adds another dimension while providing the perfect base for the television and extra storage space for overnight guests.
