Our house was built 70 years ago by a camellia enthusiast, Dr. J.M. Habel. For whatever reason, nature rewarding us after a hard year of the pandemic, or the 6" of rain we got in February, but the hundreds of camellias he planted, bred, and nurtured, exploded in flowers this year and put on a dazzling show. This artistic and design-forward family approached us at the beginning of the pandemic with a design prompt to blend their love of midcentury modern design with their Caribbean roots. With her parents originating from Trinidad & Tobago and his parents from Jamaica, they wanted their home to be an authentic representation of their heritage, with a midcentury modern twist. We found inspiration from a colorful Trinidad & Tobago tourism poster that they already owned and carried the tropical colors throughout the house — rich blues in the main bathroom, deep greens and oranges in the powder bathroom, mustard yellow in the dining room and guest bathroom, and sage green in the kitchen. This project was featured on Dwell in January 2022.

The first thing we did was to open up the ceilings so we have doubled the space. We designed and decorated during the pandemic so most of the art works and decorations are either from the owners' storage or online shopping. Beauty could be really found at the safety and comfort of your home and office. We ordered hand made the lamps from the porcelain vases and custom made the embroidery fabric for the sheer curtains and dining room upholstered chairs

She was pleasantly surprised by the quality since we bought without sitting or touching anything. This project opened up to creating style and design for clients anywhere.

As the design contract came to its completion, the client preferred Valerius for the execution of the project. Valerius commenced working on the project, demonstrating its architectural and construction prowess by executing and delivering, ahead of schedule, a spectacular swimming pool for an upmarket luxury project in South Mumbai, during the pandemic. Valerius acknowledges and appreciates the efforts taken by the client for taking all the necessary precautionary measures and creating a secured work environment for the site team to prevent the risk of COVID-19.

As the pandemic hit many of our homeowners found themselves home more often and spending more time on their hobbies. This homeowner in Tower Grove took to her creative side and asked us to construct a Pottery Studio for her. Pairing her design eye with ours we developed a plan to create an open, light filled studio that would surely give her energy and get the creativity flowing. Now she can create her beautiful art without leaving her home.

This beautiful kitchen area was created with family in mind. Our clients have young children so it was important that this design incorporate beauty and comfort as well as durability for years to come. The sleek and clean white cabinets and counters plus the pop of navy in the island and bar area are accented beautifully with brass hardware and fixtures. Additionally, we integrated a showstopping quartz sink. Completed during the covid pandemic, we were sure to go above and beyond to make everyone comfortable while perfecting every aspect of this kitchen, dining space and powder bath.

We built this new Timbertech in 2018 and a few years later, these homeowners got a new Hot Tub under the deck and was looking for privacy. We then built a horizontal decking privacy wall to match the decking. We also wrapped the footing posts and beams to complete their backyard deck project. Wall looks great and really completes the final look of the whole project. With this stay-at-home pandemic – the homeowners have much more time to enjoy the privacy in their new hot tub.
