This home’s noteworthy steel shipping container construction material, offers a streamlined aesthetic and industrial vibe, with sustainable attributes and strength. Recycled shipping containers are fireproof, impervious to water and stronger than traditional building materials. Inside, muscular concrete walls, burnished cedar beams and custom oak cabinetry give the living spaces definition, decorative might, and storage and seating options. In this two-tier cutlery drawer from Dura Supreme Cabinetry, silverware is organized on top and steak knives are tucked discreetly and safely below in a knife block. The key to a well designed kitchen is not necessarily what you see on the outside. Although the external details will certainly garner admiration from family and friends, it will be the internal accessories that make you smile day after day. Your kitchen will simply perform better with specific accessories for tray storage, pantry goods, cleaning supplies, kitchen towels, trash and recycling bins. “Loft” Living originated in Paris when artists established studios in abandoned warehouses to accommodate the oversized paintings popular at the time. Modern loft environments idealize the characteristics of their early counterparts with high ceilings, exposed beams, open spaces, and vintage flooring or brickwork. Soaring windows frame dramatic city skylines, and interior spaces pack a powerful visual punch with their clean lines and minimalist approach to detail. Inspiration for a coastal entryway remodel in San Francisco

Summit Ridge is a custom residence on Paris Mountain that reinterprets classic Southern architecture through a modern lens. Designed to harmonize with its wooded mountain setting, the home combines clean lines, refined materials, and enduring craftsmanship. This Paris Mountain custom home embraces its Greenville landscape, offering a sense of retreat, privacy, and balance between the natural and built environments. The exterior features a refined mix of fieldstone, smooth siding, and vertical cedar accents, layered to achieve both warmth and contrast. A standing-seam metal roof, deep overhangs, and cypress porch ceilings emphasize the home’s strong horizontal lines while improving energy efficiency and protection from the elements. Custom aluminum-clad windows and doors bring in natural light and open the interior to expansive mountain views. Exposed steel brackets and precision detailing reveal the craftsmanship that defines Greenville-based CarsonSpeer Builders’ work, where structure and artistry coexist beautifully.

Over the years we have developed relationships with many clients but none like this one. Our client, Charlotte, had us collaborate with her on many aspects of her loft space. We started out small with custom bedding and drapery in the bedroom. Soon after that, the project grew to include furniture and textiles in the remaining rooms. We also designed her kitchen with Vesta Chicago as well as her two bathrooms. A window seat was fitted with a luxurious down cushion and pillows, including a very special one with a love bird motif. She wanted the romantic feeling of an old hotel in Paris. A blend of materials, new and reclaimed, were combined to create this wonderful environment. Photos by Patty Carroll Photography

Initially designed as a bachelor's Sonoma weekend getaway, The Fan House features glass and steel garage-style doors that take advantage of the verdant 40-acre hilltop property. With the addition of a wife and children, the secondary residence's interiors needed to change. Ann Lowengart Interiors created a family-friendly environment while adhering to the homeowner's preference for streamlined silhouettes. In the open living-dining room, a neutral color palette and contemporary furnishings showcase the modern architecture and stunning views. A separate guest house provides a respite for visiting urban dwellers.

After a trip to Paris, my client was inspired to create a space that was reminiscent of the hotel that they stayed in. I utilized striped wallpaper, hydrangea and blue woven fabrics along with and a variety of cotton twills to create a soft and comfortable environment. The Parisian flare was added in the selection of the furniture pieces and lighting.
