An existing outdated back porch structure was removed and replaced with a larger outdoor living area designed to truly fit this family’s current lifestyle. It encompasses the entire back of the house with a low sloping vaulted ceiling and is accessible from all spaces. Special emphasis was given to the kitchen area where grandchildren participate in cooking the catch of the day from family fishing trips! Dining and sitting spaces are also provided with a fireplace that can be viewed through French doors from the Living Room. The master suite is updated with a modernized bathroom that features a walk-in tub and a large accessible shower.

C&M Interiors participated in the Ladue News Charity Show House to design this grand foyer, staircase and second floor landing. The duo utilized their contemporary and minimal aesthetic to contrast with the heavy and bold wood work of the home built in 1897. Clear glass and gold metal accents brighten the expansive space while the combination of modern and antique help create a lively and fresh environment that is both elegant while cool and casual.

Basement bath is Giallo Ornamental Granite with a Blanco Silgranit II Cafe Brown sink. Main kitchen is Bianco Antico granite with a Blanco Silgranit II Metallic Gray sink.

Things can get a little hectic in the kitchen. Wine, juice, ketchup, if it's in the cupboards or fridge, it can end up on the furniture. Fortunately, these modern and comfortable counter stools can stand up to the mess. Made of a durable wood composite and high density plastic, anything that lands on them can easily be wiped away. We know that cooking is a social event so we designed the stools with V-shape seating and foot bar to give all participants a comfortable place to sit and watch the show.

In a suburb less than 3 miles from Manhattan an old house underwent a major facelift. I had a good fortune of being invited to participate on the garden design and installation. In the front a simple corten steel frame lifts an arrangement of Carex Pensilvanica, that will mature into a lawn that will not need mowing. Playful clusters of Boxwoods add structure and winter interest.
