This Miami Modern style custom bar replaced an old world dark wood style pub. This updated social gathering spot allows you to sit with your friends, enjoy a cocktail, and appreciate the commissioned art installation on the bar's backsplash wall, enhanced by wall-washed lighting. The italian bar chairs are upholstered in red leather and feature woven cane backs.

This kitchen took a tired, 80’s builder kitchen and revamped it into a personalized gathering space for our wonderful client. The existing space was split up by the dated configuration of eat-in kitchen table area to one side and cramped workspace on the other. It didn’t just under-serve our client’s needs; it flat out discouraged them from using the space. Our client desired an open kitchen with a central gathering space where family and friends could connect. To open things up, we removed the half wall separating the kitchen from the dining room and the wall that blocked sight lines to the family room and created a narrow hallway to the kitchen. The old oak cabinets weren't maximizing storage and were dated and dark. We used Waypoint Living Spaces cabinets in linen white to brighten up the room. On the east wall, we created a hutch-like stack that features an appliance garage that keeps often used countertop appliance on hand but out of sight. The hutch also acts as a transition from the cooking zone to the coffee and wine area. We eliminated the north window that looked onto the entry walkway and activated this wall as storage with refrigerator enclosure and pantry. We opted to leave the east window as-is and incorporated it into the new kitchen layout by creating a window well for growing plants and herbs. The countertops are Pental Quartz in Carrara. The sleek cabinet hardware is from our friends at Amerock in a gorgeous satin champagne bronze. One of the most striking features in the space is the pattern encaustic tile from Tile Shop. The pop of blue in the backsplash adds personality and contrast to the champagne accents. The reclaimed wood cladding surrounding the large east-facing window introduces a quintessential Colorado vibe, and the natural texture balances the crisp white cabinetry and geometric patterned tile. Minimalist modern lighting fixtures from Mitzi by Hudson Valley Lighting provide task lighting over the sink and at the wine/ coffee station. The visual lightness of the sink pendants maintains the openness and visual connection between the kitchen and dining room. Together the elements make for a sophisticated yet casual vibe-- a comfortable chic kitchen. We love the way this space turned out and are so happy that our clients now have such a bright and welcoming gathering space as the heart of their home!

Representing an array of mediums, much of the collection is sourced from local galleries, such as Medelson Gallery, as well as Weisshouse. "I feel the artwork makes it a home," says Stacy. Here in the entry hall, Weiss thoughtfully placed large-scale works to bring intimacy into the grand space. "It adds a personal touch that you cannot achieve otherwise," she states. While at times it can be a challenge to create balance in such an architectural environment, the homeowners have overcome this with their choice of furnishings. Unified through color and form, modern chairs punctuate the walkway. Their geometric designs give them an architectural quality that supports the environment without overwhelming it. Knowing that they were looking to design a loft-like environment, the couple kept to an open layout for the majority of the living space. One of the most fantastic features of the space is a bank of clerestory windows that flood the interior with seemingly endless amounts of daylight. Originally added back when the building served as an artist studio, Weiss and Carpenter agreed that keeping them was a must. "The only original part of the house is the ceiling and the existing skylights and clerestory," Weiss describes. "We basically changed everything else." The ceiling compliments the contents of the environment, but also continues the story of the homeowners' design philosophy. "We loved the original wood and steel ceiling, including steel beams forged at the Carnegie Steel Works," Carpenter explains. "In coming up with our design approach, we wanted to reflect some of the previous uses of the structure ... Keeping elements from the past not only interested us aesthetically." he says, "It was important to us to reuse structures and objects in ways that are close to their originally intended use."

We had the pleasure of adding some serious style to this pied-a-terre located in the heart of Austin. With only 750 square feet, we were able to give this Airbnb property a chic combination of both Texan culture and contemporary style via locally sourced artwork and intriguing textiles. We wanted the interior to be attractive to everyone who stepped in the door, so we chose an earth-toned color palette consisting of soft creams, greens, blues, and peach. Contrasting black accents and an eclectic gallery wall fill the space with a welcoming personality that also leaves a “city vibe” feel. Designed by Sara Barney’s BANDD DESIGN, who are based in Austin, Texas and serving throughout Round Rock, Lake Travis, West Lake Hills, and Tarrytown. This condo was designed for a great client: a young professional male with modern and unfussy sensibilities. The goal was to create a space that represented this by using clean lines and blending natural and industrial tones and materials. Great care was taken to be sure that interest was created through a balance of high contrast and simplicity.
