Design ideas for a small rustic partial sun front yard mulch garden path in San Francisco for spring.

The curved end of the patio provides a lounge chair vignette flanked by Phormium Jester in rustic pots. Teucrium forms a mini hedge outlining the new brick patio.

The hillside garden two years after it was planted. This sloped hillside was been transformed into a beautiful tapestry of colors and textures in every season. I specified drought tolerant plants and shrubs that are low maintenance and deer resistant. Located in Novato, CA - Marin County. The hillside has filled in beautifully!

The meandering flagstone pathway is planted with dymondia margaretae and blue chalksticks (Senecio serpens). The blues are often punctuated with dark browns of aeonium arboreum and phormium jack spratt. The mexican feather grass softly sways in the breezes and give a beachy effect.

The home's front porch was rebuilt to match the new walkway, with artistic Arto ceramic tiles inset into the Tierra y Fuego terra-cotta field. A new seatwall encloses the porch, while the entrance is punctuated by a colorful 'Guardsman' Phormium with contrasting Stachys 'Silver Carpet' beneath. Photo © Jude Parkinson-Morgan.

Lagoon-side property in the Bel Marin Keys, Novato, CA. Entertaining and enjoying the views were a primary design goal for this project. The project includes a large camaru deck with built-in seating. The concrete steps and pavers lead down to the water's edge. I included a sunken patio on one side and a beautiful Buddha statue on the other, surrounded by succulents and other low-water, contemporary plantings. I also used Dymondia ground cover to create a natural pathways within the garden.
