This Kitchen completely redone. It had cabinets with a raised panel in a pickled finish. The shape was a U and crowded. We removed one section of the U and built a custom island with seating, remade the cabinets with shaker style doors and drawers. A section of glass fronted cabinets, lighted from above and the counter extended approximately 24 inches to add storage space to the kitchen. Under Mounted divided sink and new granite counter tops were installed. Glass back splash under counter lighting and new pendant lighting for the island make this kitchen and pleasure to cook in or to gather around the island with a friend or two.

When it came to the design of the kitchen, we knew that we wanted something timeless and bright. Classic moldings, white cabinets, and brass fixtures all helped to achieve that effect. While we brought in some existing pieces i.e. the loveseat, window treatments and pillows we splurged when it came to the fixtures. One of the first decisions we made were the Gabby barstools! To avoid having too “sterile” of a space we brought in warmth and texture through our accessories (i.e. vintage pickle jars, woven demijohns and heirloom silver).

The homeowners liked the basic layout, but we were able to get them an island with seating, allowing them and their guests to enjoy visiting with the cook. This also created more efficient storage and practical counter space. We also modified a closet with new, more accessible shelving. Storage and counter space have increased dramatically. Preparing a meal and entertaining guests has never been more enjoyable!

A once tired, dark and dated space, this kitchen received new life with custom cabinetry in a modern grey stain. By keeping the style simple, the homeowners honored the home's traditional New England Colonial conservative style.
