Inspiration for a mid-sized contemporary 3/4 beige tile and porcelain tile porcelain tile and beige floor alcove shower remodel in San Francisco with flat-panel cabinets, dark wood cabinets, beige walls, an undermount sink, solid surface countertops and a hinged shower door

These clients saw a clogged shower as an opportunity for a full primary bath re-design. We were thrilled to collaborate on their vision of a sage green color scheme and their need for more storage while still maintaining the original floor plan. Extending a ¾ wall in the shower meant we could run the vertically stacked sage green tile all the way to the ceiling. Chrome shower fixtures were taken out and pipes relocated; an oversize niche was added in tile to match the shower floor. Swapping out the shower door for a modern sliding one saved on space and allows one to focus on the whimsical new acoustic tile we installed on the floor; our clients loved this tile so much they used it again in the kids bathroom! Painting the existing vanity a darker green and replacing the hardware in a subdued brushed nickel balanced out the playful tile. Additional wall storage was added in the form of a glass front arched cabinet, and pill topped robe hooks complete the overall look of this primary en suite bath.

Four years ago, we began the design process of the main house to align with the owner's retirement and move back to the Seattle area from Chicago in 2015.
Although the Boathouse and Carriage house are more Pacific Northwest shingle in character, this time around the owners wanted a modern interpretation for the main house. Now in 2016 - 10 years later - they are settled in and their little "compound" has become the family gathering place for their three grown sons, their wives, and the owner's grandchildren.
The main house is a contemporary interpretation of Northwest Regionalism in which dramatic waterfront conditions are complemented with aesthetic consideration of massing, materials and the embracing of natural light.
The interior spaces are highlighted in marble, steel, walnut, Sapele and limestone finishes.

Sometimes it really is all in the details... and the storage! By gutting this small NYC bath back to its stub walls and all walls back to the underlying cinder block exterior wall we were not only able to expand the space by a few precious inches that make all the difference, but we were also able to create a beautiful shower storage solution in stunning Statuary honed marble.

Took an old outdated bathroom and turned it into this sleek, bright bathroom. Notice all the natural light and clean lines.

Lee & James wanted to update to their primary bathroom and ensuite closet. It was a small space that had a few pain points. The closet footprint was minimal and didn’t allow for sufficient organization of their wardrobe, a daily struggle for the couple. In addition, their ensuite bathroom had a shower that was petite, and the door from the bedroom was glass paned so it didn’t provide privacy. Also, the room had no bathtub – something they had desired for the ten years they’d lived in the home. The bedroom had an indent that took up much of one wall with a large wardrobe inside. Nice, but it didn’t take the place of a robust closet.
The McAdams team helped the clients create a design that extended the already cantilevered area where the primary bathroom sat to give the room a little more square footage, which allowed us to include all the items the couple desired. The indent and wardrobe in the primary bedroom wall were removed so that the interior of the wall could be incorporated as additional closet space. New sconces were placed on either side of the bed, and a ceiling fan was added overhead for ultimate comfort on warm summer evenings.
The former closet area was repurposed to create the couple’s new and improved (and now much larger) shower. Beautiful Bianco St. Croix tile was installed on the walls and floor of the shower and a frameless glass door highlighting the fabulous Brizo rainshower head and Delta adjustable handheld showerhead all combine to provide the ultimate showering experience. A gorgeous walnut vanity with a Calacutta Gold Honed Marble slab top (that coordinates with the kitchen) replaced the old cabinet. A matte black Pottery Barn Vintage Pill Shaped Mirror was placed above the undermount sink, while a striking LED pendant serves as the main light source. The newly added square footage allows for a Victoria and Albert stand-alone soaking tub with an adjacent towel warmer, all of which almost makes you forget you’re in a home and not a high-end spa. Finally, just past the new Toto toilet with bidet, the couple got their new, large walk-in closet with customized storage solutions for their individual needs. The transformation absolutely helped Lee and James love their home again!
