For the Kips Bay Show House Dallas, our studio has envisioned a primary bathroom that is a daring and innovative fusion of ancient Roman bathhouse aesthetics and contemporary elegance. We enveloped the walls with traditional molding and millwork and ceilings in a rich chocolate hue to ensure the ambience resonates with warmth. A custom trough sink crafted from luxurious limestone plaster commands attention with its sculptural allure.

Just above the only full bathroom in the home was also remodeled with a massive improvement on layout. The toilet remained in it’s existing location and everything else moved around, creating space for double vanity along one wall and an ample walk-in shower with pony wall divide next to the toilet. The custom mosaic floor tile is the showstopper of the space!

Converted from an original powder room during a whole-home renovation, this first-floor full bathroom features a barrier-free, zero-threshold curbless walk-in shower with a linear drain and a black metal-framed glass partition. Warm wood-look porcelain tile covers the floor and shower accent wall, creating a seamless transition, while large-format gray wall tile brings a polished contrast. A floating wood vanity with an open lower shelf holds a trough sink with wall-mounted black faucets, framed by a pill-shaped mirror and ambient sconce lighting to create an accessible yet warm, modern space.

This dreamy bathroom transformation involved very minimal layout changes to create a soothing spa experience right at home. The former materials in this bathroom were dark and heavy and a large tub deck created cramped, unproductive spaces. The remodel resulted in a bright, modernized spa-like master bathroom with brass fixtures and a Western Red Cedar tongue & groove wood ceiling that evokes the feel of being inside a sauna. Our designer, Anna, put a contemporary spin on this spa with the hexagon tile flooring, colorful blue cabinetry, and pill-shaped sinks. Although this bathroom did not change in size, the spaces feel more open with the new partial-height shower walls, freestanding tub, white tile, marble-like quartz slabs, and better lighting.

It sets a stunning backdrop for the Rejuvenation Imbrie Articulating Sconces, which bring a classic brass-and-enamel moment into the mix. Paired with Buster + Punch dimmer switches, the lighting now responds intuitively to any mood, from soft nighttime reading to bright morning motivation. Grounding the room is Dreamweaver’s Finishing Touch carpet in Shortbread, a soft, neutral foundation that keeps the room feeling cozy and connected to the palette of the bath.
