Designing, Building, and Installing an under the stairs wine cellar is a fantastic way to utilize an otherwise uninteresting location in your home. Here in Newport Beach, Orange County, California, this homeowner did just that. Even though small, this glass door / glass front wine cellar / glass wine room / glass wine vault holds upwards of 480 bottles with ease. The design build team at Vintage Cellars worked closely with this client to create a hybrid style wine cellar design in metal, wood, and glass. Contemporary and modern flair accent this traditional design. Triple deep metal wine racks line the top of this wine room, circling the walls with their ability to display wines horizontally and label forward. At waist height, a thin marble countertop sits above a completely custom, three tiered system of metal and wood storage for original wooden cases by Noe Design Co. Everything is on full display here. Holding up to 180 bottles, this glass wine wall utilizes triple deep metal wine pegs drilled directly into the stone wall behind. The pegs hold each wine bottle horizontally so that bottles and their labels are on full display. Through the middle of the cellar, three stone platforms hold oversized bottles upright, though this is truly only a display feature. Serious wine connoisseurs always store their most prized wines horizontally, ensuring that corks remain wet and the bottles are able to be aged gracefully. This beautiful home for a family of four got a refreshing new design, making it a true reflection of the homeowners' personalities. The living room was designed to look bright and spacious with a stunning custom white oak coffee table, stylish swivel chairs, and a comfortable pale peach sofa. An antique bejeweled snake light creates an attractive focal point encouraging fun conversations in the living room. In the kitchen, we upgraded the countertops and added a beautiful backsplash, and the dining area was painted a soothing sage green adding color and character to the space. One of the kids' bedrooms got a unique platform bed with a study and storage area below it. The second bedroom was designed with a custom day bed with stylish tassels and a beautiful bulletin board wall with a custom neon light for the young occupant to decorate at will. The guest room, with its earthy tones and textures, has a lovely "California casual" appeal, while the primary bedroom was designed like a haven for relaxation with black-out curtains, a statement chain link chandelier, and a beautiful custom bed. In the primary bath, we added a huge mirror, custom white oak cabinetry, and brass fixtures, creating a luxurious retreat! ---Project designed by Sara Barney’s Austin interior design studio BANDD DESIGN.
