This project was a part of the 2017 Decorators' Showhouse in Columbus, Ohio. Twelve designers each created a room within the Columbus Museum of Art, making this the first showhouse to take place within a museum. Each designer was allowed to use a piece of artwork from the museum's collection in their space. The intent of this design was to create a contemporary, gender-neutral nursery with touches of mid-century modern style. Mid-century modern design is sleek, simple, functional and bright. Here, the combination of vintage and contemporary furnishings and accessories all come together to create a space that is calm, yet inspires creative play. The artwork, California Landscape by Stanton Macdonald-Wright, sets this tone. His modern abstract, devoid of illustration uses blocks of color to create space and form. This idea of geometric abstracts is repeated throughout the design of the room. Interesting shapes that can be manipulated with eye or hand are very fitting for a nursery. This is a space where a child can dream and play, grow and learn, and also rest. Whites with warm walnuts, light marble, and splashes of color are the key features in this modern family headquarters. The kitchen was meticulously designed to accommodate storage for numerous kitchen gadgets, cookware, and dinnerware that the family owned. Behind these simple and clean contemporary kitchen cabinet doors, there are multiple ergonomic and functional features that make this kitchen a modern chef’s dream

Kids' room - contemporary kids' room idea in San Francisco

This sitting room is an homage to the families past and future. It acts as a study, music room, and sanctuary where they can relax in quiet solitude or listen to the children play piano. A place to gather and share happy memories and celebrate family history. This room houses many of the families personal family memorabilia. The sofa and lounge chair were inherited from their parents and reupholstered in fresh new fabrics to add color that is joyous. The bookcases are filled with family portraits and inherited family objects. The light fixture when lit at night, casts shadows of figures on the walls. It's a reminder of all the family and friends they hold close in their hearts.

JFK Design Build LLC Casual elegance ~ This study / music room has such a stately feel. The painted coiffured ceiling lightens the room and creates a uplifting space to play and create music. While the beautiful dark stained wood for the wall of book shelves and the flooring gives a calming feeling.
