Inspiration for a mid-sized transitional single-wall light wood floor and beige floor wet bar remodel in Austin with an integrated sink, flat-panel cabinets, blue cabinets, green backsplash, glass sheet backsplash and marble countertops

The kitchen and bathrooms in this 20th-Century house in Lake Oswego were given an elegant update. The kitchen was made more spacious for entertaining friends and family. A corner of the space was extended to create more room for an expansive island, an entertainment bar, and storage. The look was completed with dainty pendants, a Taj Mahal quartzite natural stone countertop, and custom cabinets. The bathrooms are deeply relaxing spaces with light hues, a marble shower and floors, and abundant natural light.

DESERT PHONE LINES © George Diebold - pictured in a corporate conference room this full bleed, plexi-glass laminated, archival print is floated out from the wall by an aluminum brace.
This extremely limited edition print is available in a number of sizes and can be delivered world wide.

This bedroom of a young woman was completely disorganized and cluttered. The client could not find anything so she continued to purchase replacements.
The floating plexi shelves were crammed with knickknacks and forgotten mementos. Now only the client's most cherished - including her Hermes & Chanel handbags.

This U-Shaped terrace located on a busy avenue and crosstown street required Landmark approvals and sound/vibration proof engineering. The chic mid century elements were custom made using light as a practical ambient source of design. A custom hot tub allows the clients to sit and stare across Central Park and south toward the Chrysler Building. Along the avenue a row of beefy stainless and plexi rear lit planters holds ornamental trees and plants that define this elevated garden as a haven of tranquility separated by shade, movement, color and shushing noises. All of these elements are removable and 'float' over the surface of the roof on protective surfaces all approved by the building architect.

A custom hand-knotted area rug with a pattern of squares echoes the newly-added coffered ceiling above. Recessed lighting provides additional lighting and the gray ceiling coordinates with the fabrics . The chandelier creates another focal point, with square glass beads and brass elements in contrast to nickel tones throughout. Floating glass shelves with brass supports flank the resident artist's original artwork and display cherished collections.

This single family home sits on a tight, sloped site. Within a modest budget, the goal was to provide direct access to grade at both the front and back of the house.
The solution is a multi-split-level home with unconventional relationships between floor levels. Between the entrance level and the lower level of the family room, the kitchen and dining room are located on an interstitial level. Within the stair space “floats” a small bathroom.
The generous stair is celebrated with a back-painted red glass wall which treats users to changing refractive ambient light throughout the house.
Black brick, grey-tinted glass and mirrors contribute to the reasonably compact massing of the home. A cantilevered upper volume shades south facing windows and the home’s limited material palette meant a more efficient construction process. Cautious landscaping retains water run-off on the sloping site and home offices reduce the client’s use of their vehicle.
The house achieves its vision within a modest footprint and with a design restraint that will ensure it becomes a long-lasting asset in the community.
