The individual spaces all look upon each other in multiple ways, offering the building a reflexive quality. Depending on how these spaces are utilized, the home feels equally suited for one person or one hundred.

The clients for this basement polishing project were looking for a multipurpose space for their whole family to use – and polished concrete floors just happened to fit each purpose they were looking to fulfill. When you walk down the stairs to the basement, the space has a unique vibe to it; the room is completely open concept, yet there are creatively defined areas for each use. The children will enjoy this newly renovated space for arts & crafts, playing house in their built-in room under the stairs, or even rollerblading year-round. The adults can relax in their cozy and inviting living area, or workout in the modern gym section of the basement. We were impressed by the diverse uses for this finished space. Our initial conversation with the clients about the design of their basement included finding out the ways in which they would be using the space. A matte, 200-grit finish was the polishing level that was decided upon, and the clients opted to keep the concrete its natural color. Aggregate exposure was chosen to be cream exposure. These finish details would prove to be a subtle and neutral backdrop to the rest of the modern/industrial design elements of the space while performing as an extremely durable and low-maintenance flooring solution that the whole family will enjoy for years to come.

The polishing process required multiple passes and posed some challenges. These challenges included various heights of concrete floors and also a large amount of vertical concrete polishing. The flooring was finished with a black stain and a level 1 - 400 grit shine.

For this residential project on the North side of Fort Wayne, Indiana we used a penetrating dye to color the concrete. We started by grinding the floor to remove the cure and seal, and going through the necessary passes to bring the floor to an 800-level shine - a reflective shine that is easy to maintain. We then cleaned the floor, added the custom dye, (with a mixture of black and sand), rinsed the floor, densified and finished with a final polish.

Pool house galley kitchen with concrete flooring for indoor-outdoor flow, as well as color, texture, and durability. The small galley kitchen, covered in Ann Sacks tile and custom shelves, serves as wet bar and food prep area for the family and their guests for frequent pool parties. Polished concrete flooring carries out to the pool deck connecting the spaces, including a cozy sitting area flanked by a board form concrete fireplace, and appointed with comfortable couches for relaxation long after dark. Poolside chaises provide multiple options for lounging and sunbathing, and expansive Nano doors poolside open the entire structure to complete the indoor/outdoor objective. This open floor kitchen has a mixture of Concrete Counter tops as well as Marble. The range hood is made of a custom plaster. The T&G ceiling with accents of Steel make this room cozy and elegant. The floors were 8 inch planks imported from Europe.
