Inspiration for a contemporary pool remodel in Miami

A rustic kids bunk room build with reclaimed wood creating the perfect kids getaway. The upper bunks utilize custom welded steel railings and a vaulted ceiling area within the bunks which include integral lighting elements.

And the outdoor spaces are so great.” Situated atop an old Civil War battle site, this new residence was conceived for a couple with southern values and a rock-and-roll attitude. The project consists of a house, a pool with a pool house and a renovated music studio. A marriage of modern and traditional design, this project used a combination of California redwood siding, stone and a slate roof with flat-seam lead overhangs. Intimate and well planned, there is no space wasted in this home. The execution of the detail work, such as handmade railings, metal awnings and custom windows jambs, made this project mesmerizing. Cues from the client and how they use their space helped inspire and develop the initial floor plan, making it live at a human scale but with dramatic elements. Their varying taste then inspired the theme of traditional with an edge. The lines and rhythm of the house were simplified, and then complemented with some key details that made the house a juxtaposition of styles. The wood Ultimate Casement windows were all standard sizes. However, there was a desire to make the windows have a “deep pocket” look to create a break in the facade and add a dramatic shadow line. Marvin was able to customize the jambs by extruding them to the exterior. They added a very thin exterior profile, which negated the need for exterior casing. The same detail was in the stone veneers and walls, as well as the horizontal siding walls, with no need for any modification. This resulted in a very sleek look. Security cameras cover the entire perimeter of the home, and their pictures are easily viewed from anywhere in the world through an iPad app. An access-controlled gate allows the client to manage entry to the home even when away. All devices were inconspicuously placed, and custom Lutron drapes were installed to control daylight. We also staged multiple variations of light fixtures and bulbs to find the optimal combination to meet the client’s taste. Photography: Bruce Van Inwegen

Nestled in the hill country along Redbud Trail, this home sits on top of a ridge and is defined by its views. The drop-off in the sloping terrain is enhanced by a low-slung building form, creating its own drama through expressive angles in the living room and each bedroom as they turn to face the landscape. Balanced shade, dappled sunlight, and tree canopy views are the basis of the 518 Sacramento Drive house design. The entry is on center with the lot’s primary Live Oak tree, and each interior space has a unique relationship to this central element. Composed of crisply-detailed, considered materials, surfaces and finishes, the home is a balance of sophistication and restraint. The two-story massing is designed to allow for a bold yet humble street presence, while each single-story wing extends through the site, forming intimate outdoor and indoor spaces. Large modern white three-story stucco flat roof idea in Los Angeles

This was an exceptional challenge due to elevation and access. This spa sits 17 feet above grade and is over 6 feet above the pool. The space was extremely limited but we found the perfect fit. This project includes an infinity edge spa with a Faux edge pool. It also includes a lean to cabana and an automated fire pit. Secured by tempered glass railing and accentuated by beautiful Artistry in mosaics glass tile.
