A description of the homeowners and space from Linnzy, the Presidential Pools, Spas & Patio designer who worked on this project: "The homeowners can be described as an active family of three boys. They tend to host family and friends and wanted a space that could fill their large backyard and yet be functional for the kids and adults. The contemporary straight lines of the pool match the interior of the house giving them a resort feel in the very own backyard! The large pergola is a perfect area to cool off in the shade while enjoying a large outdoor kitchen as well as an oversized fire pit for the cooler nights and roasting marshmallows. They wanted a wow factor as the pool is the main focal point from the living room, and the oversized wall and rain sheer did the trick!"

The large sectional and additional seating in front of the television create an inviting conversation area for game nights and movie nights. Behind the sectional, the two console tables and ottomans can be rearranged and pushed together to create an impromptu dining space. Utilizing every inch of this space allows the client to truly enjoy her home to its full potential.

This project was featured in Midwest Home magazine as the winner of ASID Life in Color. The addition of a kitchen with custom shaker-style cabinetry and a large shiplap island is perfect for entertaining and hosting events for family and friends. Quartz counters that mimic the look of marble were chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. Open shelving with brass sconces above the sink create a focal point for the large open space. Putting a modern spin on the traditional nautical/coastal theme was a goal. We took the quintessential palette of navy and white and added pops of green, stylish patterns, and unexpected artwork to create a fresh bright space. Grasscloth on the back of the built in bookshelves and console table along with rattan and the bentwood side table add warm texture. Finishes and furnishings were selected with a practicality to fit their lifestyle and the connection to the outdoors. A large sectional along with the custom cocktail table in the living room area provide ample room for game night or a quiet evening watching movies with the kids. No that's not a bicycle in the living room. You're seeing the sweat room off the living room separated by butt-glazed glass. This wall of glass allows the rider to enjoy the view through the living room and out to the pool as they train for hours at a time. A wall of Knoll fabric curtain can by pulled shut to close off the sweat room when not in use. Skylights are sprinkled across the ceiling to allow light to play across the flooring. The newly remodeled family room has new hardwood floors and French doors which lead out to a large backyard patio. A new built-in entertainment center with bookshelves and storage was added. The custom upholstered armchairs and sofa are in cream colors with patterned pillows, lending to the nautical beach theme. A blue accent wall lends to the blue hues throughout the home. A custom cocktail table and side tables were designed specifically for this home. The new open floor plan makes the family room visible from the entry and open to the kitchen. The backside of the fireplace has a hint to the nautical theme with white painted wood and new nickel fireplace doors. A commissioned painting hangs near the French doors; it coordinates with the mural painted in the powder room. This couple purchased a second home as a respite from city living. Living primarily in downtown Chicago the couple desired a place to connect with nature. The home is located on 80 acres and is situated far back on a wooded lot with a pond, pool and a detached rec room. The home includes four bedrooms and one bunkroom along with five full baths. The home was stripped down to the studs, a total gut. Linc modified the exterior and created a modern look by removing the balconies on the exterior, removing the roof overhang, adding vertical siding and painting the structure black. The garage was converted into a detached rec room and a new pool was added complete with outdoor shower, concrete pavers, ipe wood wall and a limestone surround. Living Room Details: Two-story space open to the kitchen features a cultured cut stone fireplace and wood niche.
