A tiny room appears to be large when furnished with over-sized elements. The large round cocktail table provides adequate circulation and pulls the room together. while the large triptych creates interest. The pieced hide rug feels modern within the otherwise traditional space. The gray draperies resonate with the blue ceiling in the Living Room.

Our Long Island studio used a bright, neutral palette to create a cohesive ambiance in this beautiful lower level designed for play and entertainment. We used wallpapers, tiles, rugs, wooden accents, soft furnishings, and creative lighting to make it a fun, livable, sophisticated entertainment space for the whole family. The multifunctional space has a golf simulator and pool table, a wine room and home bar, and televisions at every site line, making it THE favorite hangout spot in this home.

Westchester Whimsy This project was a two phase addition to a simple colonial house in Chappaqua, NY. Challenges for Daniel Contelmo included the hilly site, as well as the fact that the front entry lacked presence and the garage was the primary entry. Phase one added a family room, kitchen and breakfast room to the main level, and renovated a bedroom. New overhangs and brackets draw the eye away from the garage and place the focus on the house. Phase two completed the renovation and added space to the front of the house; this was an opportunity to add character to the bedrooms with a turret, and a vaulted ceiling in the bedroom over the entry. A new car pulloff allows visitors to view the front door rather than the garage. An open-air pool cabana with an outdoor fireplace and kitchen serves as a space for year-round activities. The final product was an exquisitely detailed and tastefully decorated home that integrates colonial and shingle style architecture with whimsical touches that give the house a more animated feel. To formalize this dining space, we wrapped the room in drapery panels, framing the beautiful golf course view. Contrasting head chairs, bold lighting and an Ikat rug add some visual interest to an otherwise neutral space.

Design-build kitchen, powder room, and butler’s pantry remodel in an 1890 Victorian home in Wakefield, MA. Full renovation included reconfiguring the powder room layout and opening a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room to improve flow and functionality. Kitchen remodel features frameless full overlay cabinetry in Steel Blue, quartz countertops (Alleanza Dolomiti Extra), beveled crackle tile backsplash, and hardwood flooring. Island addition replaces freestanding table and adds prep space with microwave drawer. Full-height wall cabinets maximize kitchen storage. Historic-inspired details include ogee-edge countertops, bridge-style faucet in English Bronze, decorative corbels, polished nickel hardware, and industrial-style sconces. Powder room renovation includes reduced footprint layout, basketweave floor tile, applied molding, wallpaper, and vintage-inspired plumbing fixtures in chrome. Butler’s pantry remodel features inset cherry cabinetry in a coffee stain finish, quartz countertops, glass-front cabinets, beverage fridge, bar sink, and wallpapered cabinetry interiors.
