Home was designed to be a formal house but was now being used as a weekend retreat. Ann Kenkel had to decorate the house in a manner which was coastal enough so owner's felt like they were on vacation yet formal enough for the style of the house. AK found the house filled with wallpaper from the 1980's. Wallpaper from every room was removed and all trim had to be painted a neutral color. The formal dining room only had one entry. AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay. This fabric was presented to me by the client to use as inspiration for the bathroom design. The color and artwork was based off of this fabric. The ceramic roses in the space make this idea come "ALIVE"

For the customer who loves a little bling, the fabric is studded with seed pearls and the crystals and sparkly brooch add extra glamour. But its not just a pretty face, to keep the shutter underneath functional we added a hinge at the left so that when the shutter gets opened the valance swings out with it and then back into place when the shutter is closed.

This unusually shaped window was softened with gathered sheer draperies that were fitted to the window shape. The fabric is washable Ado fabric, which is a plus for a child's bathroom. For total privacy, the tiebacks are simply "unhooked".

Box pleated valance with wood bead trim on a shaped hem. The fabric is board mounted and was installed up to the ceiling and over to each side wall to create a larger window area. The decorators goal was to achieve a calming relaxed island look using soft colors to compliment the gray walls and bamboo accessories.

For this dreamy bedroom, tall stationary panels were the perfect place to add pattern and drama. A soft flowing damask pattern by Pindler and Pindler was chosen in varying shades of aqua to complement the wall color, while custom white wood drapery hardware by Kirsch provides a finished look. Inverted pleats give the draperies a feeling of polish, while not feeling overly stuffy.

This is a shaped cornice box we did for a client in Irvine, California. The gathered banding the the bottom is very difficult to do around the shape. Note the pattern hits exactly the right spot. It took three meetings with the designer to get the pattern placement just right.
