Kitchen/dining room combo - mid-sized cottage medium tone wood floor kitchen/dining room combo idea in Los Angeles with white walls

The exterior of Chicago Contemporary Home 25 is a bold architectural statement—one that balances geometric precision with modern warmth. Built by New Explode Construction in the heart of the city, this home sets the tone from the very first glance. It's a masterclass in contrast and craftsmanship.
Angular rooflines, matte black accents, and horizontal wood siding create a striking silhouette that feels both grounded and elevated. Generous windows and a glass-framed balcony reflect the home's interior values: natural light, openness, and connectivity to the outdoors.
The front entry is intentionally softened by thoughtfully layered landscaping, modern pavers, and clean lines that guide you toward the door with quiet elegance. Every material—from the sleek metal railing to the organic stonework—was selected to complement both urban edge and suburban ease.
At NEC, we believe curb appeal shouldn't just look good—it should say something. And this one says it all: confidence, clarity, and custom design at its finest.

Classic lines, Inviting presence, Subtle charm
Light exterior with dark roof shingles, arched blue entry, and large multi-pane windows create a fresh yet familiar silhouette. The front seating nook, mature trees, and manicured lawn offer warmth and approachability, tying comfort to timeless design.

The master bedroom of this home is full of exciting colors and textures. The dark walls allow the bed to stand out while the rug and pillows add pops of color and texture. Brad Knipstein was the photographer.

Example of a transitional l-shaped light wood floor and beige floor kitchen design in Grand Rapids with a farmhouse sink, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, marble countertops, gray backsplash, subway tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances and an island

This master bathroom has everything you need to get you ready for the day. The beautiful backsplash has a mixture of brown tones that add dimension and texture to the focal wall. The lighting blends well with the other bathroom fixtures and the cabinets provide plenty of storage while demonstrating a simply beautiful style. Brad Knipstein was the photographer.

Imagine stepping into your and being greeted by a haven that seamlessly blends the built and natural worlds. Sunlight filters through verdant leaves overhead, dappling a red wood deck that envelopes the trunk of a magnificent tree. This is not just an outdoor space; it's an oasis, a sanctuary where the lines between indoors and outdoors blur, and the presence of nature takes center stage.
At the heart of this oasis lies the existing tree, not merely an obstacle but the focal point, the star around which the entire design revolves. Built specifically to accommodate its presence, the cabinetry forms a sculptural embrace, wrapping around the base like a protective shroud. Crafted from weather resistant materials that echoes the tree's own earthy tones, the cabinetry blends seamlessly into the landscape.

Inspiration for a mid-sized craftsman patio remodel in Orange County with a fireplace

When this suburban family decided to renovate their kitchen, they knew that they wanted a little more space. Advance Design worked together with the homeowner to design a kitchen that would work for a large family who loved to gather regularly and always ended up in the kitchen! So the project began with extending out an exterior wall to accommodate a larger island and more moving-around space between the island and the perimeter cabinetry.
Style was important to the cook, who began collecting accessories and photos of the look she loved for months prior to the project design. She was drawn to the brightness of whites and grays, and the design accentuated this color palette brilliantly with the incorporation of a warm shade of brown woods that originated from a dining room table that was a family favorite. Classic gray and white cabinetry from Dura Supreme hits the mark creating a perfect balance between bright and subdued. Hints of gray appear in the bead board detail peeking just behind glass doors, and in the application of the handsome floating wood shelves between cabinets. White subway tile is made extra interesting with the application of dark gray grout lines causing it to be a subtle but noticeable detail worthy of attention.
Suede quartz Silestone graces the countertops with a soft matte hint of color that contrasts nicely with the presence of white painted cabinetry finished smartly with the brightness of a milky white farm sink. Old melds nicely with new, as antique bronze accents are sprinkled throughout hardware and fixtures, and work together unassumingly with the sleekness of stainless steel appliances.
The grace and timelessness of this sparkling new kitchen maintains the charm and character of a space that has seen generations past. And now this family will enjoy this new space for many more generations to come in the future with the help of the team at Advance Design Studio.
