The beautifully patterned stained wood ceiling is the star of this Italian Country inspired master bedroom. The room is anchored by a blue and ivory Oushak rug which contrasts with the roughhewn texture of the hardwood flooring and the honey stained moldings. A gold sunburst mirror hangs above the iron bed whose headboard is dressed in ivory leather and coordinates with the tones of the plaster walls. Bedcoverings include an ivory matelassé coverlet, beige and aqua paisley print European shams, and a monogrammed blue velvet throw pillow. Blue glass lamps sit atop soft gray stained bedside chests. Hanging above each chest is a pair of tiny paintings, each depicting a bucolic landscape. At the foot of the bed stands a Queen Anne style bench upholstered in a blue and ivory geometric fabric. Hanging from bronze drapery hardware are elegantly embroidered draperies, which pull together the serene blue and ivory tones of the room.

This home office doubles as a guest room when needed, as the ottomans easily move aside and the sofa pulls out to a bed. By layering a large area rug over wall-to-wall carpet, it makes the space feel warm and inviting, whereas without the rug, the room would appear somewhat empty.

The master bedroom of this South Carolina mountain home is swathed in natural light, beckoning its owners to rest and relax. Rich taupe moldings add depth, contrasting with the ivory plaster walls and ceiling. Punctuating the ceiling are exposed beams that have been stained to coordinate with the walnut-stained hardwoods that blanket the floors. An iron bed stands on an Oushak rug in shades of vanilla and biscuit. Almond panels with eyelet detailing hang from the bed’s canopy and coordinate with the skirt. Bedding in white, cream and taupe is layered to create sumptuous texture. Flanking the bed are ebony chests with serpentine fronts. At its foot, a traditional bench with black Queen Anne legs is covered in a damask chenille. Antique brass lamps crowned with ecru shades have a filigree texture, adding to the room's feminine air. A convex mirror hangs above the bed, reflecting the light washing in through the ample windows and doors. Suspended from bronze iron rods are sheer draperies embroidered with a floral pattern, allowing sunshine to filter through windows painted Sherwin Williams Black Fox. Woven blinds coordinate with the stain of the beams and control light and privacy. A lounge chair dressed in crisp off-white and trimmed with bronze nails is paired with a nickel side table

Sometimes we start with a few foundational items and a blank slate. We’ve worked with these Clients on their previous home, and they were ready to make their bedroom suite all their own. Keeping the built-ins was a requirement as was wallpaper, some new window treatments, a closet overhaul, and all the decor and details. We kept the bed and drapes and swapped the rest to create a luxe sleeping retreat. Phase 2 of this project was to tackle the dining room and adjacent powder room. The dining room had a small sun room attached to it that was not being utilized. We turned it into a luxe home bar with custom cabinetry and a stunning quartz countertop / backsplash. Gold wallpaper on the ceiling completed the room and highlighted all of the fun metal details throughout the space. We ran the color from the bar through the dining room and accented it with bold wallpaper. We added some contrasting colors with the rug selection and brought in wood tones with the furniture to ground the space. FUN FACT : The art over the fireplace is a vintage photo from District’s Vintage Chicago Project, featuring photos found in vintage furniture over the lifetime of the store. Location: Spring Lake, NJ, US Our design goal for this renovation and addition was to present a modern interpretation of Colonial Plantation Style. This home features dark wood floors, wood paneling and a light soothing color scheme. The Dining Room features classic silk De Gournay Wallpaper which further fuses the indoor and outdoor seamlessness of the home. The amazing tile installations permeate the decor with color, texture and pattern. The shaker-style kitchen is refreshed by using black cabinetry, a custom stainless hood and La Cornue Range. We enjoyed adding vintage finds throughout - a farm table for the Kitchen, Bergere chairs in the Entry, and a Victorian Flower mirror in the Powder Room. threshold interiors ensures that your beach retreat is elegant, transitional and most importantly comfortable and relaxing!
