On this project, Gallery KBNY undertook one of our biggest home renovations to date. The project was a complete overhaul and gut renovation of a Brooklyn brownstone, standing four-stories in the heart of Bed-Stuy, that involved touching every square inch of the entire space. The owner of this property, a real estate developer who was looking for an all-inclusive firm to handle the entire process, hired Gallery and tasked us with creating an owner’s quadplex with a separate garden studio apartment as a rental unit.

The owner of this home in Maine involved Koncerted in the design process from day one, allowing us to create unique, integrated systems with no workarounds. Design was first priority for this client, so all tech—including whole home audio, full surveillance, video doorbells, home entertainment, and five televisions—was chosen and installed with a minimalist aesthetic in mind. This secure, tech-enabled home also has as its centerpiece a custom-made floating staircase with embedded motion-sensored LED lights that give it a glowing effect. Photographer: Keitaro Yoshioka

AFTER Making a great room.... better! Utilizing a space to its fullest potential it always a careful balance. Here we've changed the floors to the furniture. Part of the process involves a nice balance of contrasting colors. Once the bones of the home are fixed, the frame of your overall design concept is in the color choices and how you will create your own yin and yang. The darker hardwood floors and contrasted with light natural tones of camel, eggshell, and creams. These give way to the ability to accent through a pop of color and textures.... from the wicker to the patterned accent pillows. The wicker is our connection to the deck furniture that is visible from the inside. The cream of the interior gives us the darker and warmer hues of yellow and crimson.

Windover project is a coastal traditional home located in Corona del Mar, California. The design process involved significant transformations, including moving walls and opening up the downstairs space. We turned what was the dining room into a Butler's pantry and office and took the formal living room and made in the new formal dining space. This home was such a special project to work on and we're so happy our clients love it as much as we do!

LEED Certification Level: Platinum. Desert Rain was conceived and constructed with meeting the imperatives of the Living Building Challenge, and LEED Platinum Certification as the ultimate goals. The Desert Rain Team has been involved in this process from day one. From design charettes and materials vetting to building deconstruction and pulling the entire compound and systems together we have all been there. This was an extremely challenging process and will not be entirely complete until the one-year audit period and ultimately full LBC and LEED certification is complete. We worked closely with him and the clients to achieve the right interior layout as well as the furniture plan. As far as the interior design, we helped with the selections of the various finishes (flooring, bathroom tiles, paint colors for both interior and exterior, hardware, furniture and light fixtures). Working with great vendors such as Francois & Co. for the kitchen hood and the fireplace, Specialty Tile, Circa Lighting, Century Furniture, and many other wonderful local vendors. This helped us achieve the perfect atmosphere and architectural detail in the space. The clients were very involved in the selection process and so it helped that they had great taste! It was a great project from concept to the finished design.

During the planning phase we undertook a fairly major Value Engineering of the design to ensure that the project would be completed within the clients budget. The client identified a ‘Fords Garage’ style that they wanted to incorporate. They wanted an open, industrial feel, however, we wanted to ensure that the property felt more like a welcoming, home environment; not a commercial space. A Fords Garage typically has exposed beams, ductwork, lighting, conduits, etc. But this extent of an Industrial style is not ‘homely’. So we incorporated tongue and groove ceilings with beams, concrete colored tiled floors, and industrial style lighting fixtures. During construction the client designed the courtyard, which involved a large permit revision and we went through the full planning process to add that scope of work. The finished project is a gorgeous blend of industrial and contemporary home style.
