A modular sectional sofa with custom silk pillows anchors the low-profile living seating arrangement. A large cowhide hide is flanked by contemporary lounge chairs and tempered glass and iron tables. The wall seen behind the couch features an original abstract painting produced by the designer, above an antique French console. A chrome and glass pendant light sets the stage in the stepped entry landing. A bent glass console table and a custom wall clock now sit where a bedroom doorway was eliminated. The walls are painted Sandy Hook Gray a tough walls flat latex with trim painted in White Dove a satin oil-based impervex enamel. Lafayette artist Christopher LaBauve was commissioned to create a 7’x7’ abstract landscape painting to face a large set of windows in the dining room. The painting channels the styles of Pollock, Twombly and Friedman. The wood panel features a reptilian texture created from black speedball tattoo ink and archival bookbinding resin, mounted in a custom floater frame. Highly pigmented paint powder creates swirls of yellow, the home’s signature accent color.

Features include a bright, open study off the entry. This office space is flanked on two sides by walls of expansive windows and provides a view out to the driveway and the woods beyond. There is also a contemporary, two-story great room with a see-through fireplace. This space is the heart of the home and provides a gracious transition, through two sets of double French doors, to a four-season porch located in the landscape of the rear yard. Inspiration for a scandinavian bedroom remodel in Gothenburg

With a unique architectural element featuring two structural beams running crosswise through the kitchen, the cabinetry needed to work to enhance the detail. On the wish list was an impressive island with seating that could replace the large kitchen table. The kitchen was designed with 33” high custom wall cabinets of varying heights, to float unobtrusively below the beams. A window was removed in order to accommodate the new beautiful focal point; a custom designed stucco hood and cooking area with a decorative ledge niche. Skylights in the vaulted area produce ample light, allowing the sink to be relocated to the large center island. The cherry glazed island conceals two dishwashers, with a soft outer arc so that diners can see one another. An elegant dinette area was created to showcase glassware and store linens. With a matching wood top and a hidden TV, this beautiful furniture piece is in direct view from the living room area, making the kitchen, at a glance, as well appointed as the rest of the home. Softly distressed ivory cabinetry with a brown glaze lightened the originally dark kitchen, creating a roomy and cheerful space. Golden tumbled travertine and crackled glass details on the backsplash accentuate the dramatic “Grand Canyon” colors of the natural stone counter tops.

This trapezoidal shaped lot in Dallas sits on an assuming piece of land that terminates into a heavenly pond. This contemporary home has a warm mid-century modern charm. Complete with an open floor plan for entertaining, the homeowners also enjoy a lap pool, a spa retreat, and a detached gameroom with a green roof. This countertop is very easy to care for, and it will look brand new for years to come.
