Ideal for extensive entertaining and comfortable everyday living, we designed an open floor plan that offered easy flow between the living room, bar, dining space and kitchen. Multiple horizontal and vertical offsets created visual interest on all four elevations while custom-built light fixtures produced sleek task lighting in work areas without sacrificing style. To create additional texture and character, we utilized transitional architecture by uses massing, materials, and lines found in the Hill Country in new ways with architectural limestone blocks, rough chopped Texas limestone, and stucco with metal reveals. Particular consideration was given to the views visible from bedrooms as well as always achieving cross-lighting to capture as much natural light as possible, as seen in the master bath where both windows in the wet room light the space throughout the day. We also featured aluminum clad wood window package, an anodized aluminum window wall in the living room, and a custom design steel and glass entry door.

Being a huge Star Wars fan myself, I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to create this room. Star Wars themed rooms have been very popular, especially with the new series of movies that Disney has produced. Star Wars art is perfect for any themed room, media room, home theater, office or your children's bedroom. Acorn Bespoke Carpentry and Joinery were commissioned to produce this magnificent bespoke fitted dining room cabinet by Elliot Biddle Interiors. Francesca from Elliot Biddle envisioned this statement piece with a deep and calming colour and textural excitement which we brought to life. The made to measure cabinet features fabulous finishes, customised storage, elegant lighting and even an integrated undercounter fridge to keep beverages cold and ready to enjoy. BUILT-IN DRINKS DRESSER Meticulously crafted the built-in drinks dresser has an aesthetically pleasing symmetrical design with shaker style doors for timeless style and superior quality. The result is a dining room unit that creates a welcoming, functional and impressive backdrop for the homeowner’s gatherings and parties. EXQUISITE MATERIALS ENHANCE THE FURNITURE The large dining room cabinet has been flawlessly spray finished in Mylands Mayfair Dark, a sumptuous indigo colour. Made from natural earth pigments the paint is eco-friendly as well as providing an authentically rich warm blue. The mirrored backs are Milano Antique mirror glass from Saligo Design. The reflective finish has a vibrantly distressed appearance with intricate swirling patterns in earthy colour tones. The mirror glass finish also makes an ideal splashback while also accentuating the light. The countertop is made from Gerald Culliford’s Marron Cohiba stone. This distinctive, elegant granite has a dark antique look with an organic jigsaw pattern. Beautiful and durable, it is exceptionally resistant to staining and scratches making it ideal for a dining room surface. DESIGNER DETAILS DEMAND ATTENTION The bespoke solid brass handles, made in England by Armac Martin, further elevate the look and functionality of the cabinetry. Matching brass undershelf hanging racks provide secure and attractive space-saving storage for stemware while also providing quick access to the glasses. The cabinet is cleverly lit to make the most of the shining glasses and bottles creating sparkle and that magical ooh factor. Tailored integrated lighting is an excellent addition for a dining room cabinet as it illuminates the work area while also adding decoration and ambience.

Continental Cut Stone

Texas “Cordova” Cream blocks from our own quarry were shipped to our milling facility in Florence, Texas where we produced all the architectural features. Continental also purchased Hadrian Limestone blocks from TexaStone Quarries located in Big Spring, Texas. We partnered with Texas Carved Stone on the intricate carved pieces. The stone was chosen by the home owners, who wanted to use Texas Limestone for the rich and elegant look these two particular stones have. This home is nestled into a neighborhood in downtown Austin, Texas. It sits in a majestic manner on the land it is built on with oak trees and native trees protecting it from the hustle and bustle of the city life, but still offering the excitement of Austin. This home is not a large home, but has the elegance of any mansion. Over 4,000 pieces of cut Texas “Cordova” Cream and Hadrian Limestone enhance the exterior of the home, garage and pool house. There was also over 1,200 pieces of stone accents such as window surrounds, balustrade, caps, treads, risers and cornices which were carved by Bob Ragan of Texas Carved Stone. Some of the stone pieces weighed as much as 1,000 pounds. As you can see, the entire exterior of this home is stone. It was truly a puzzle that once together, is the job of a lifetime. It is the perfect design for a perfect home in a perfect setting.

The kitchen island leads into the family room, where glowing floral lighting call to the gardens outside. Nature inspired artwork by Kaoru Mansour and Joyce Gehl hang on the walls, creating another conversation with the plant life outside.A Calacata Avorio marble island offers a large surface to prepare food, or enjoy breakfast while admiring exterior views. Stacks of produce are at the ready for convenient snacking, with vegan cookbooks close at hand in preparation for larger meals. A custom niche was designed to display a pottery collection, and offers another space for plant life to grow. Golden hues in the marble add warmth. Wooden bar stools neatly tuck into the island, perfect for socializing and conversation while preparing meals. The kitchen was made with natural materials to inspire peace, and encourage a connection between the environment when considering the food being prepared. A custom knife drawer as part of cabinetry made in collaboration with a local artisan, conveniently located near the oven for easy preparation. FSC certified no VOC apple ply was used for the cabinetry. Custom silverware drawers give ample space for a variety of flatware. Fresh fruit available for healthy snacking doubles as colorful decor. Artwork by Karen Sikie provides a permanent bouquet when flowers begin to wilt. The pantry, featuring a large concealed fridge to match the cabinetry. On the left, two freezer drawers sit below the counter, with additional storage for dried goods and spices. Custom cabinets made in collaboration with a local craftsperson are painted in a warm grey to bring out the dove tones in the marble. The counter tops were specified to reach the clients ideal height for food preparation. The kitchen is designed for ease of use and calm, creating a mindful experience for cooking.
