RenovisionsThis kitchen had not been renovated since the salt box colonial house was built in the 1960’s. The new owner felt it was time for a complete refresh with some traditional details and adding in the owner’s contemporary tastes.
At initial observation, we determined the house had good bones; including high ceilings and abundant natural light from a double-hung window and three skylights overhead recently installed by our client. Mixing the homeowners desires required the skillful eyes of Cathy and Ed from Renovisions. The original kitchen had dark stained, worn cabinets, in-adequate lighting and a non-functional coat closet off the kitchen space. In order to achieve a true transitional look, Renovisions incorporated classic details with subtle, simple and cleaner line touches. For example, the backsplash mix of honed and polished 2” x 3” stone-look subway tile is outlined in brushed stainless steel strips creating an edgy feel, especially at the niche above the range. Removing the existing wall that shared the coat closet opened up the kitchen to allow adding an island for seating and entertaining guests.
We chose natural maple, shaker style flat panel cabinetry with longer stainless steel pulls instead of knobs, keeping in line with the clients desire for a sleeker design. This kitchen had to be gutted to accommodate the new layout featuring an island with pull-out trash and recycling and deeper drawers for utensils. Spatial constraints were top of mind and incorporating a convection microwave above the slide-in range made the most sense. Our client was thrilled with the ability to bake, broil and microwave from GE’s advantium oven – how convenient! A custom pull-out cabinet was built for his extensive array of spices and oils. The sink base cabinet provides plenty of area for the large rectangular stainless steel sink, single-lever multi-sprayer faucet and matching filtered water dispenser faucet. The natural, yet sleek green soapstone countertop with distinct white veining created a dynamic visual and principal focal point for the now open space.
While oak wood flooring existed in the entire first floor, as an added element of color and interest we installed multi-color slate-look porcelain tiles in the kitchen area. We also installed a fully programmable floor heating system for those chilly New England days. Overall, out client was thrilled with his Mission Transition.

ALP HomeSkema is a modular fireplace that likely arose from a doubt – the question of understanding what the right dimension would be to ensure that it is not only a good design but also a commercial success. This indefinable unknown became the leitmotif of the design project: a modular fireplace, an aggregable system of functional elements that can be developed from a minimum dimension - the firebox -, ad infinitum, in order to satisfy all the needs, and the available space, of the users. The functions in Skema are broken up and made free, so the independent: firebox, wood box, and open compartments can be combined as desired with personalisable and interchangeable solutions, creating a made-to-measure fireplace with right, left, or central orientation, with the wood box and open compartments on both sides. Constructed with precise proportions, the modules can also be assembled above the firebox and below for a vertical layout that is especially suitable for small spaces. A project conceived as a programme of units that can be developed horizontally or vertically with an array of finishes. Made entirely of steel, the exterior finish can be in Corten or in the black or white lacquer version.

The rooms in the listed building had also been subdivided, creating cramped spaces and disrupting the historical plan of the house.
After years of careful restoration and collaboration, this elegant, Grade II listed Georgian house and estate has been brought back to life and sensitively woven into its secluded landscape surroundings.

Scott Christopher HomesLocated in the heart of a 1920’s urban neighborhood, this classically designed home went through a dramatic transformation. Several updates over the years had rendered the space dated and feeling disjointed. The main level received cosmetic updates to the kitchen, dining, formal living and family room to bring the decor out of the 90’s and into the 21st century. Space from a coat closet and laundry room was reallocated to the transformation of a storage closet into a stylish powder room. Upstairs, custom cabinetry, built-ins, along with fixture and material updates revamped the look and feel of the bedrooms and bathrooms. But the most striking alterations occurred on the home’s exterior, with the addition of a 24′ x 52′ pool complete with built-in tanning shelf, programmable LED lights and bubblers as well as an elevated spa with waterfall feature. A custom pool house was added to compliment the original architecture of the main home while adding a kitchenette, changing facilities and storage space to enhance the functionality of the pool area. The landscaping received a complete overhaul and Oaks Rialto pavers were added surrounding the pool, along with a lounge space shaded by a custom-built pergola. These renovations and additions converted this residence from well-worn to a stunning, urban oasis.
O.A.I. Concept Interiors / ExteriorsA dimmable spiral chandelier adds whimsy and softens the edges to the rectangular items in the space. The artificial ficus plant shares the greenery between the living and dining areas. The ceramic stone motif table top has a hidden extension that can accomodate extended family visits. A 6ft x 6ft frame with recessed lighting was created to highlight the European-imported wall mural. The color of the lighting can be changed according to the mood or whims of the client and is programmable from a handheld remote.

O'Hanlon Kitchen & BathWith a massive island as the centerpiece; this kitchen is contemporary in style, modern in technology, and is designed for comfort for the whole family. The door style is Carlisle Slab in Maple by Echelon Cabinetry in two tones. The upper cabinetry finish is Alpine White and the lowers are in Onyx. The island and surrounding countertops are quartz in Brittanicca by Cambria. In the island is the super single undermount Blanco sink with a Moen faucet. The island also houses a programmable 48 bottle built-in wine fridge. A new state of the art 48-inch GE Monogram stove with four burners, a griddle, a grill, and one and a half ovens was added. A new french door refrigerator with a bottom freezer slide out was added as well. The homeowners opted for under and above cabinet lighting to not only light the countertop work space but to also light her favorite pieces displayed above the cabinets.
