The stairwell used to be dark, and I really hated it. It was fully drywalled and lit by just one sconce as you headed up the three flights. To create a brighter ascent, I envisioned a slatted system between the floors to allow natural light to pass through, paired with wall sconces all the way up to illuminate it when needed. My contractor and his team took my sketch and idea to another level. They hand-selected white oak to match the newly laid hardwood floors, executed flawless joinery, and created a slat wall that plays beautifully with natural light, all completed with care. I can’t express how beautifully this turned out, and I’m incredibly proud of their craftsmanship.
