After putting in a new swimming pool, our client’s main goal was to create a functional outdoor living space that would accommodate friends and family and satisfy their need for entertaining large groups of people. Progressive Design Build designed a solution that started with a large covered patio and seating area. The renovation focused on building a grilling station that included a curved granite countertop with an area for seating at the end of the cabinet run; and a large grill and hood vent, which allowed for an adequate cooking surface area to accommodate any occasion. We matched the existing brick pavers from an existing area of the home to create a cohesive look and maintain the rustic feel of the backyard. The cabinets were built out of Cypress and stained to match the finish of the newly installed wood patio ceiling. We were also able to supply and install a new fire pit so this family could enjoy the beautiful Florida sunsets with friends and family—the ones we Southwest Florida residents have the privilege of experiencing and enjoying throughout the year.

Because they love to entertain, they wanted to see how they could accommodate guests and extended family—improving the layout and functionality of their Bonita Bay home of more than eight years. Having worked with remodeling contractors in the past, they were reluctant to proceed. They had experienced a remodeling fiasco that drug on beyond their expected completion dates and went well over budget. This time, they hired a local architect, an interior designer, and Progressive Design Build as the general contractor. The three teams worked together to formulate a clear vision and plans for the renovation. Once this husband and wife team knew exactly what they wanted to achieve and had a design plan in hand, they set about creating a modern and functional outdoor living space. The three teams worked together to finalize the design and the budget—no headaches, not delays. After six months (two months finalizing the design and budget, and four months to build), this project finished on time and on budget and resulted in a beautiful outdoor living space that consisted of a massive outdoor kitchen with a separate dining area and sitting area, 20-foot tall vaulted ceilings, a beautiful glass fireplace and cost stone balustrades. It was finished with cast stone columns, huge stucco arches, a high tech lighting system and porcelain tile floors.

When a Historic District home was renovated in Fort Myers, a dream kitchen was created: open plan enough for gathering, with clearly delineated areas for cooking, reading and entertaining. Challenge Bill and Alison’s existing kitchen was small and dysfunctional. Each room seemed independent, and there was no flow through the house. The house felt small, with one entry and exit point. As a planning consultant, Bill was no stranger to construction. He was a general contractor himself and had built several custom homes in years past. As a gardening enthusiast and professional educator, Alison also had an eye for design. They started with design, layout and planning on their own, but soon realized they needed help. After interviewing several contractors who seemed overwhelmed and unenthused by their project, they reached out to Progressive Design Build. Solution Mike was not only enthused about the project, but he established trust with Bill and Alison. Within a few short weeks he was hired to begin the planning phase, conducting thorough research on the project, meeting key subcontractors and establishing a realistic budget. When the project began, internal walls were removed to open up the kitchen/dining areas and an island was built, giving the space an open and modern functionality. The eating area was enlarged, and a visual connection to the outside was established using Marvin insulated glass windows with Low E coatings—which rejects solar heat gain without reducing visible light passing through the glass. In order to allow for the open concept layout that Bill and Alison desired, we built new structural beams to transfer the live load. The sliding patio doors opened onto a small terrace with a wrought iron handrail creating access to the private courtyard and garden area. Finishing details included custom cherry cabinets and wood trimming, 16” x 32” natural stone flooring, granite countertops and historically correct plaster finishes. Result The project was completed within budget and two weeks ahead of schedule. “That planning phase was the best money we spent on the project,” exclaimed Bill. “It was incredibly gratifying being able to watch the subcontractors and suppliers come and go with shared leadership and attention to details.”

The office renovation started with the elimination of the built-in murphy bed and the angled office desk. In its place, Progressive Design Build designed all-new custom cherry built-ins with plenty of file drawers, open shelving and hidden storage for a rollout printer and shredder.

It was in 2012 when Mike Spreckelmeier first met Roy and Patti. They had been despondent after meeting with multiple contractors in an attempt to start their kitchen remodel. The contractors lacked follow through, came tardy to meetings and even failed to show up at others. Determined to leave nothing to chance in the pursuit of their dream, Roy and Patti followed up on a recommendation after overhearing a conversation that was taking place while they were standing in a gallingly long line waiting to cast a vote on Election Day. With a solid recommendation to pursue, Roy and Patti contacted Progressive Design Build. The rest is history. Mike showed up on time. For a small retainer, he provided preliminary sketches, ideas for maximizing space and storage, and solutions for a sunken family room that created a safety hazard and a problem with traffic flow. More importantly, he designed the project to the homeowners’ budget. Progressive Design Build shot some different elevations and designed a plan to raise the floor, allowing all finished floors to be on the same level. Upon completion, the kitchen was stunning. Features included LED backlit fire glass shelving, white recessed panel cabinets, a subway tile backsplash, Granite countertop, integrated refrigerator, undermount sink, and more. The living room was designed with complimentary finishes and included a natural stone fireplace wall with open cabinets flanked on both sides. The 12’ fireplace was made with a floor-to-ceiling white pebble finish. This Bonita Bay project completed on time and on budget—allowing this fabulous family a wonderful opportunity to create lasting memories for many years to come.

As the trusses and supports were being built, we added two 2’ x 4’ skylights to allow in plenty of natural light. The screen enclosure was modified to ensure the enjoyment of the outdoors no matter the time of year. The patio cover also received new super gutters and downspouts. Can lights and fans were laid out in both the new and existing covered areas. Bringing the outdoor living areas together, the ceilings were designed in a beautiful Synergy Cypress tongue and groove wood finished in a warm Auburn stain. The putting green was relocated to the large walkway adjacent to the screen enclosure. When the covered area was complete, the outdoor kitchen was built along the retaining wall overlooking the property’s stunning views.

These Bonita Springs homeowners were looking to update their master bathroom with a more modern, transitional design as well as building in better storage and more efficient lighting. Progressive Design Build accomplished this by adding a curbless, walk-in shower with a half-inch clear glass partition, separating it from the new under mount tub and Quartz tub deck. White Dura Supreme cabinetry was paired with Quartz countertops, and two towers were added for additional storage. A honed marble accent band was used throughout the room to tie it all together along with new sconce lighting and sleek undercabinet lower lighting for ambiance.

A bulky butcher block island was removed to increase workflow in the kitchen. The off-white cabinets and dark granite countertops were replaced with custom white stacked cabinets in a Dempsey shaker door style and Cambria quartz Berwyn countertops that were inspired by the peaks and ridges of a rugged mountain range. Paired beautifully with the quartz countertops was a full-height shimmering gray subway tile backsplash. New stainless and black appliances from GE and Sharp coordinated nicely with the elegant cabinet pulls and a gooseneck faucet that was positioned proudly over a Vigo 30” single basin sink. Brushed nickel lighting fixtures complete the look. Progressive repainted the kitchen and the rest of the common areas in a creamy white (Sherwin Williams #7012) on both the walls and the ceilings. The cabinets were transformed from a dark, dated brown stain to a fresh, lighter white painted cabinet, and topped with beautiful quartzite countertops. The once raised bar top was changed to a one-level counter, opening up space, and allowed us to provide a much needed, functional prep space for Katie to sit comfortably in the center island. Progressive transformed the existing desk area to a full height base of cabinets, providing ample storage—a luxury this couple didn’t have in their old kitchen. And, Katie’s favorite part of the whole remodel? The fabulous wide built-in pantry with useful hanging racks on the doors.
