Our wine cellar builders installed, among other wine racking Detroit types, three deep horizontal wine display racks.
The wine storage system allows for the optimum viewing of wine labels, thus making wine showcasing and general inventory an easy feat.
Not only that, large or unusually sized bottles (such as magnums) can be stored in the horizontal display racks.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The client requested a large (19 foot wide by 15 foot projection) two-span retractable waterproof patio cover system to provide heavy rain, hail, heat, sun, glare and UV protection. This would allow our client to sit outside and enjoy their garden throughout the year, extending their outdoor entertainment space. For functionality they requested that water drain from the rear of the system into the front beam and down inside the right end post, exiting at the bottom from a tiny hole and draining into the flower beds thus preventing rain water from simply dropping off the front of the unit. The entire system used one continuous piece of fabric and one motor. The uprights and guides meet together at a smooth L-shaped angle, flush at the top for a perfectly smooth profile. The system has a Beaufort wind load rating Scale 10 (up to 63 mph) with the fabric fully extended and in use. A grey hood was also used to prevent rain water, debris and snow from collecting in the folds of fabric when not in use. A running profile from end to end in the rear of the unit was used to attach the Somfy RTS motor which is installed inside a motor safety box. Circular concrete footers were installed in the grassy area in front of the unit for mounting the 3 posts. To allow for a flat vertical mounting surface, a ledger board using pressure-treated wood was mounted the full 19-foot wall width, as the client’s house was made of uneven, thick stone.
PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT:
The client’s intention was for installation of a retractable waterproof patio cover system to provide heavy rain, hail, heat, sun, glare and UV protection for their backyard patio area.
What is unique or complex about the project?
This project was difficult for two main reasons: 1. Very large installation fasteners needed to be used to install through the above referenced ledger board and deep in to the stone structure of the house. 2. The motor cable needed to be placed through deeply drilled holes as the stone wall house wall is 15” thick. Drilling through en-even stone was definitely a challenge.
PROJECT RESULTS
The client was delighted with the results. The retractable patio cover system now makes it possible for the client to use a very large area in the rear of their house 24/7, 365 with the exclusion of snow. Since the client was very happy, they will be covering the ends, front and sides with our motorized vertical drop zippered awnings. Gable ends will also be covered with fixed fabric panels. Enclosing the entire area will allow the customer to heat the space in the winter and air condition the space in the summer.

A Study in Calm
Cheers to this peaceful home office that is full of champagne tastes and hues!
I’d love to spend my day designing here; wouldn’t you?!

This project hits very close to home for us. Not your typical office space, we re-purposed a 19th century carriage barn into our office and workshop. With no heat, minimum electricity and few windows (most of which were broken), a priority for CEO and Designer Jason Hoffman was to create a space that honors its historic architecture, era and purpose but still offers elements of understated sophistication.
The building is nearly 140 years old, built before many of the trees towering around it had begun growing. It was originally built as a simple, Victorian carriage barn, used to store the family’s horse and buggy. Later, it housed 2,000 chickens when the Owners worked the property as their farm. Then, for many years, it was storage space. Today, it couples as a workshop for our carpentry team, building custom projects and storing equipment, as well as an office loft space ready to welcome clients, visitors and trade partners. We added a small addition onto the existing barn to offer a separate entry way for the office. New stairs and an entrance to the workshop provides for a small, yet inviting foyer space.
From the beginning, even is it’s dark state, Jason loved the ambiance of the old hay loft with its unfinished, darker toned timbers. He knew he wanted to find a way to refinish the space with a focus on those timbers, evident in the statement they make when walking up the stairs. On the exterior, the building received new siding, a new roof and even a new foundation which is a story for another post. Inside, we added skylights, larger windows and a French door, with a small balcony. Along with heat, electricity, WiFi and office furniture, we’re ready for visitors!

This project was purposefully neutralized in ocean grays and blues with accents that mirror a drama filled sunset. This achieves a calming effect as the sun rises in the early morning. At high noon we strived for balance of the senses with rich textures that both soothe and excite. Under foot is a plush midnight ocean blue rug that emulates walking on water. Tactile fabrics and velvet pillows provide interest and comfort. As the sun crescendos, the oranges and deep blues in both art and accents invite you and the night to dance inside your home. Lighting was an intriguing challenge and was solved by creating a delicate balance between natural light and creative interior lighting solutions.

Kitchen and Dining room"
Out: brick bearing walls, old porch, tiny kitchen, confining dining room,
In: light filled addition, open floorplan with front to back sight lines, stunning kitchen, spacious island, warm reclaimed column and shelving.
"The Dining and Mud Rooms"
After converting the tiny kitchen into a mudroom with a centered doorway, the typical daily accumulated shoes, backpacks and coats now can easily be hidden from view simply by sliding together the unique re-purposed barn doors. Narrow openings to the left and right were enlarged inviting guests to explore the warm and fun new spaces while allowing plenty of room to expand the table

Check out this beautiful open concept kitchen project. More and more homeowners think of redesigning an existing kitchen that would be simple but still has great functionality for normal family life. For this project, we aimed to create an open room that could serve many purposes. We took our time picking out the right materials for the kitchen to make it not busy but functional. Double Kitchen Island is definitely one of the greatest part of this space. We loved the design of this project.

Discover the epitome of urban living with our recent project, 'Multi-Purpose Oasis: DC Row Home Backyard Revamp.' Nestled in the heart of Washington, DC, this stunning transformation embodies the perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics. We teamed up with a homeowner to revitalize their backyard, introducing a contemporary bike storage shed for organization, an upgraded fence for privacy and style, and a custom bench wrapped around a charming planter box, creating a serene relaxation spot. This backyard oasis seamlessly integrates with the surrounding urban landscape, providing an inviting space for outdoor living and leisure. With a focus on sustainability and modern design, our project is a testament to the potential of urban landscapes to become versatile and stylish retreats.

Inspiration for a timeless bedroom remodel in Charlotte with blue walls and no fireplace

When our clients approached us about remodeling their home, their goal was clear: transform a traditionally styled interior into a clean-lined, contemporary space that truly reflected who they are today. The home originally featured dark wood floors, heavy moldings, and glazed cabinetry—hallmarks of a more traditional design. Our mission was to reimagine it entirely with modern sensibility, warmth, and purpose.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was creating harmony throughout the home—from the kitchen to the family room, dining area, office, and even a new basement kitchen. We selected cabinetry finishes and styles that tied the spaces together while allowing each room to maintain its own personality.
