I designed and assisted the homeowners with the materials, and finish choices for this project while working at Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths.
Our client (and my former professor at OSU) wanted to have her basement finished. CCKB had competed a basement guest suite a few years prior and now it was time to finish the remaining space.
She wanted an organized area with lots of storage for her fabrics and sewing supplies, as well as a large area to set up a table for cutting fabric and laying out patterns. The basement also needed to house all of their camping and seasonal gear, as well as a workshop area for her husband.
The basement needed to have flooring that was not going to be damaged during the winters when the basement can become moist from rainfall. Out clients chose to have the cement floor painted with an epoxy material that would be easy to clean and impervious to water.
An update to the laundry area included replacing the window and re-routing the piping. Additional shelving was added for more storage.
Finally a walk-in closet was created to house our homeowners incredible vintage clothing collection away from any moisture.
LED lighting was installed in the ceiling and used for the scones. Our drywall team did an amazing job boxing in and finishing the ceiling which had numerous obstacles hanging from it and kept the ceiling to a height that was comfortable for all who come into the basement.
Our client is thrilled with the final project and has been enjoying her new sewing area.

Our goal on this project was to make the main floor of this lovely early 20th century home in a popular Vancouver neighborhood work for a growing family of four. We opened up the space, both literally and aesthetically, with windows and skylights, an efficient layout, some carefully selected furniture pieces and a soft colour palette that lends a light and playful feel to the space. Our clients can hardly believe that their once small, dark, uncomfortable main floor has become a bright, functional and beautiful space where they can now comfortably host friends and hang out as a family. Nestled against the backdrop of the Worcester Mountain Range lies this timeless Modern Farmhouse. This project consisted of a full gut to most of the interior as well as new windows, doors, siding, decks, and trim. Part of the project involved building an addition to join the detached garage to the main house as well as redefining the entry with a beautiful and functional mudroom and powder room. We also built out a new dining room with a ton of glass which helped to connect the interior with the lush gardens outside.
Custom cabinetry, millwork, and builtins throughout. Doug Fir Timbers were used to support the load above while also providing a warm and handsome ascetic value throughout the downstairs as we opened the floorpan up. It is always refreshing to breath new life into an outdated structure.

Their family expanded, and so did their home! After nearly 30 years residing in the same home they raised their children, this wonderful couple made the decision to tear down the walls and create one great open kitchen family room and dining space, partially expanding 10 feet out into their backyard. The result: a beautiful open concept space geared towards family gatherings and entertaining.

This custom mudroom combines classic craftsmanship with functional design. The main feature is a set of open, arched lockers painted in a rich aquamarine blue-green, topped with lift-up upper storage cabinets for seasonal gear and less used essentials. Below, a white oak bench adds warmth and durability, with shoe cubbies tucked neatly underneath. A connected utility cupboard provides additional concealed storage, blending seemingly into cabinetry. Adjacent to the mudroom lockers is a tall custom shoe cabinet with white oak slatted shelves. This project blends timeless details with modern practicality, offering a beautifully organized entry solution. Perfect for busy households looking to combine aesthetic appeal with smart storage.

The wash room is always a great place to wash and clean our most loyal friends. If your dog is larger, keeping your wash station on the floor is a smarter idea. You can create more floor space by taking advantage of height by using stack washer/dryer units instead of having side by side machines. Then you’ll have more room to lay out a shower pan that fits your available space and your dog. If you have a small friend, we recommend you to keep the washing station high for your comfort so you will not have lean down. We designed a project for our great friends. You can find practical solutions for your homes with us.

In this basement redesign, the primary goal was to create a livable space for each member of the family... transitioning what was unorganized storage into a beautiful and functional living area. My goal was create easy access storage, as well as closet space for everyone in the family’s athletic gear. We also wanted a space that could accommodate a great theatre, home gym, pool table area, and wine cellar.

This Loudonville couple started by getting a quote to finish their attic space, but then changed gears and decided the kitchen was more important at this time. Estimator Anthony and designer Justina from Bennett Contracting went to work on a new design. The home is an older colonial with classic features, and the existing kitchen was a poorly laid out 90’s nightmare. With children in the home the island cooktop alone was a constant danger. By adding a window and removing the wall from the dining room, the new kitchen is much brighter and connected to the rest of the home. Bennett removed the old vinyl tile and continued the wood flooring into the new kitchen space. Justina admits it was so much fun working on this project because the owners were open to all sorts of design features. Roll-outs in most cabinets, hidden bread boards, hutch coffee bar, brass chicken wire, and the very cool antique foot rail. Then there are the custom cabinet colors. RD Henry Cabinets matched Glidden paint colors to get the exact color the client desired. They even sent three cabinet samples to get it right. These classic features combined with the modern design brings new life to the space.

This nursery was a Gender Surprise Nursery and was one of our most memorable designs to date. The client was having her second baby and didn't want to know the baby's gender, yet wanted to have an over-the-top, elegant royal nursery completed to her liking before she had the baby. So we designed two complete nurseries down to every detail...one for a boy and one for a girl. Then when the mom-to-be went for her ultrasound, the doctor sealed up a picture in an envelope and mailed it to our studio. I couldn't wait for the secret to be revealed and was so tickled to be the only person besides the doctor to know the gender of the baby! I opened the envelop and saw an obvious BOY in the image and got right to work ordering up all of the appropriate boy nursery furniture, bedding, wall art, lighting and decor. We had to stage most of the nursery's decor here in our studio and when the furniture was set to arrive, we drove to NJ, the family left the house, and we kicked into gear receiving the nursery furniture and installing the crib bedding, wall art, rug, and accessories down to the tiniest little detail. We completed the decorative mural around the room and when finished, locked the door behind us! We even taped paper over the windows and taped around the outside of the door so no "glow" might show through the door crack at night! The nursery would sit and wait for Mommy and baby to arrive home from the hospital. Such a fun project and so full of excitement and anticipation. When Mom and baby Luke arrived home from the hospital and she saw her nursery for the first time, she contacted me and said "the nursery is breath taking and made me cry!" I love a happy ending...don't you?

This ADU construction in Cupertino is a beautiful 1100 sq. ft. space with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, thoughtfully designed for comfort and style. We focused on creating an open layout with vaulted ceilings and modern black-framed windows that let in plenty of natural light. The kitchen is a highlight, with custom cabinetry and sleek quartz countertops, while light oak hardwood flooring ties it all together. As experienced Cupertino ADU builders, we ensured every detail enhances both functionality and aesthetics.

The builder hired us to stage this property as a model because he had other units to sell. We brought in modern, yet farmhouse type furnishings to enhance the finishes and style of the home. The builder fully believed in the value of our staging and rented our furniture for 4 months.
We staged the heart of the home, kitchen, living room, dining room, family room, master bedroom, loft and all bathrooms. When we were working on the design plan, we made sure all our selections would appeal to a broad range of buyers. We consulted with the agent on who the prospective buyers would be and geared our style towards either a young family or empty nesters.
This project took us two days to install after we put our finishing touches on it. The builder anticipated a four month rental with us but our particular unit sold in ONE WEEK. We felt like we had just completed the installation! We were thrilled for our client, our realtor partners as well as the new homeowner. Definitely a textbook case of why staging works and shows the value of what we do.

Beachy backyard paradise on Padaro Lane Carpinteria. We imported about 5 truckloads of sand in order to raise the sand level 16 to 18 inches to allow views of the beach - before, it felt like there was a barricade between you and the ocean. It was an unlovely and unusable space. We created a great gathering area with a custom built flagstone bench and several large flagstone slabs for the fire pit. We found the perfect contemporary furniture and placed it around the fire pit. The furniture is custom made with Ipe wood, pre-cast concrete, embed sea glass, aggregate and fossil shells. It had to be heavy enough to not blow away or wander down the beach.
