This is an organic Lime Wash done with a true lime wash product as opposed to a brick mortar or concrete that is often seen on new houses. This product can be applied as a solid coating making the surface completely white, or can be applied and "washed off" in many artistic ways, as seen here. If you hate your brick or just want something unique this is a great option!

This addition to the existing kitchen provided family dining in a heated and cooled solarium. From Machin Conservatories of Hampshire England, this addition alleviated the pressure of family activity from the main floor formal living and dining rooms, while supplementing the basement family room space.
The herringbone walnut floors extended throught this space, while they were protected by construction paper until after move-in. A custom banquette (with game and toy storage below wrapped two sides of the solarium.

Dense woodland vegetation lends privacy and sound protection this front yard sitting area. Natural vegetation was encouraged, shaped, and supplemented with Texas native plants.

While no plant is fire proof, some native foliage is particularly adept at resisting fire. Dwarf Coyote Bush is a California native with protective qualities. It maintains hydration year round with very little supplemental water. This hydration helps it resist fire, which can give space and time to fire fighters. It also roots deeply to protect slopes. It is so good at this job, it will continue doing it even if all above-ground foliage burns to the ground. Photo: Lesly Hall Photography

To open up the kitchen to the dining room, we removed a load bearing masonry wall and installed an engineered steel beam. The kids can now do homework at the dining table or island when the parents are cooking for a family-friendly setting. The island has a waterfall countertop. This protects the sides of the cabinets due to traffic circulation and kids.
There are no side windows, as the new full light door and three casement windows bring in a lot of natural light. We also needed the wall space on the sides for storage/cabinets.
The clients selected a subtle gray for the trim around the door and casement windows.
We toothed in new white oak flooring and refinished all the floors so they match. To supplement the existing radiators in the dining room, we added electric radiant floor heat.

Our designer used gray panels under the countertop on the island. The other side of the island has white cabinet drawers and a microwave.
