The Architect presented the new design using Professional 3D Design Software. This approach allowed the Owners to clearly understand the proposed design and secondly, it was beneficial to the Contractors who prepared Preliminary Cost Estimates. The construction duration was nine months and the project was completed in September 2015. The client is thrilled with the end results! We established a wonderful working relationship and a lifetime friendship. I am truly thankful for this opportunity to design this home and work with this client!

Spin Design LimitedRemoving a wall in a small two-bedroom unit has resulted in a significant transformation. By opening up the space, a seamless connection has been established between the kitchen, dining area, and living room, creating a multi-functional and versatile area. The removal of the wall has eliminated the physical barriers that previously separated these spaces, fostering a sense of openness and facilitating better communication and interaction among family members.
The kitchen extension resulting from the removal of the wall has provided several practical benefits. Firstly, it has allowed for the expansion of the bench space, providing more room for meal preparation, cooking, and other kitchen activities. Additionally, the kitchen extension has led to an improvement in storage capacity. This means that kitchen utensils, appliances, and ingredients can be neatly organized and easily accessible, reducing clutter and enhancing efficiency in the kitchen.

Chandler Architecture & InteriorsIn an effort to maximize sweeping views of the city of Houston, a number of freestanding partitions were strategically located to define specific areas while providing uninterrupted views on the main level. Aesthetically, the approach was one of a balanced blend between traditional and contemporary design. Using smooth walnut panels on the library partitions the home’s atmosphere is established from the moment one enters the home.
The blocked paneled dining room partition complements the walnut in it’s texture, geometry and use of sage green paint. The gray walls are a neutral complement to both the walnut and sage partitions, while the horizontal white oak planks within the gray walls balance the traditional freestanding partitions.

Small Kitchens in traditional older homes present an opportunity for the designer and cabinet maker. Function, space and ease in accommodating a guest or two represent a few of the necessary considerations. Careful planning while creating custom features will ensure a useful kitchen in harmony with contemporary living. Establishing upper cabinets at the ceiling height extends storage while glass doors at the bar area continues to push open the kitchen. By placing the bar surface at the same height as the counter we’ve established an unbroken line to further increase the sense of space. Designing valence and header panels over the window in the same style as the kitchen's doors provides continuity to this custom kitchen and to the history of the home.
The home was built in the 1920's in an urban Virginia environment. As was so often the case in the appointments of the home the kitchen was given little space and short attention to design. Opening the kitchen to a hall space with careful attention to simple but functional design enabled a successful arrangement serving the modern lifestyle.

Land Stewards Ecological Landscape DesignSome of the plants, like the Rudbeckia (Black Eyed Susan), will come on strong in the first year, with a spectacular show of yellow flowers all summer long. Still others, the warm season grasses in particular, may not really take off until a few seasons later, biding their time until they eventually fill in and lend their slender form to the swaying field. This dynamic nature is part of the reason we find meadows to be so exciting. On top of the visual aesthetic, an established meadow hums with life, providing food and shelter for countless creatures. Far more interesting than flat green grass.
