While the owners liked their original home and loved its location, they were in need of additional space and custom touches for their active family. Through our X-Act 3D Design we were able to show them what their home could be! They loved the new plan that added a cozy porch with fireplace, custom built-in bunk room with bath, huge activities court with golf simulator overlooked by a custom bar up top, and another ensuite with a great view — all blended seamlessly into their original home! We delivered on the plan and now they are ready for a quick game of hoops, extended family stays, and entertaining! What an incredible transformation!

The Homeowners of kitchen had a small cramped dark kitchen. So we removed two walls to allow the new remodeled kitchen to extend into the new large family room addition. We did custom cabinetry in maple with a light stain and glaze. We have seating for the on the go family for quick meals or a place to gather when they entertain.

Our latest project in Glenmont was a remarkable transformation of an existing kitchen with the addition of a stunning sunroom and bathroom. Led by our talented Project Manager, Anthony Mulligan, and brought to life by our exceptional designer, Justina Auer, and our Bennett crew, this project was a true labor of love. Our clients had a clear vision: they wanted a space that would not only welcome guests, but also serve as a hub for precious family time. The sunroom was designed to be the perfect gathering spot for the entire family, whether it’s playing games, sharing a delicious meal or simply hanging out after a relaxing day at the pool. We installed two-tone cabinetry on either side, providing ample storage for pool essentials like towels, items for entertaining friends and overflow from the kitchen. The addition of French doors truly opened up the space, allowing the refreshing summer breeze the flow through the house and seamlessly connecting the sunroom to the outdoors. Along with the breeze, blues and whites were carried in to maintain the serene spa-like atmosphere adding to the harmonious transition. The added bathroom offers guests the utmost privacy during their stay. Moreover, it serves as a convenient spot for quick changes or rinsing off after a delightful day spent by the pool. To promote a more interactive dining experience, we extended the island and added a lower “table” area for everyone to gather, replacing the need for a traditional kitchen table. We’re so proud of this space that celebrates both family and guests by fostering a sense of togetherness, allowing everyone to bond over meals, conversations and laughter.

Nancy Knickerbocker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Southern Pines, NC, worked with Chris Sowell to design a traditional-style kitchen with Masterpiece cabinetry. The cabinets are in the Rockwell door style, in Maple with a Cognac finish, paired with Cambria Brittanicca Warm countertops. The kitchen also includes a 3x12 and 3x6 Bashful Beige Silk backsplash, a KitchenAid Induction Range, and a Whirlpool range vent. The clients shared, “The hardest part of the remodel was waiting. We were eager to get started. It’s hard to pick just one favorite feature, but the transformation of our kitchen was amazing. Nancy did a great job blending the colors and textures of the countertop and wall tiles. We love the in-cabinet trash bin and the corner lazy susan. The space couldn’t be expanded, so Nancy used the existing footprint to create a kitchen that is both beautiful and functional. She handled any issues quickly and professionally. It was a very good experience.” Nancy added, "The kitchen needed an update to match the rest of the house. While the layout stayed the same, we improved functionality and added storage with new cabinetry. This family of 5 was quickly out-growing their 1,220sf ranch home on a beautiful corner lot. Rather than adding a 2nd floor, the decision was made to extend the existing ranch plan into the back yard, adding a new 2-car garage below the new space - for a new total of 2,520sf. With a previous addition of a 1-car garage and a small kitchen removed, a large addition was added for Master Bedroom Suite, a 4th bedroom, hall bath, and a completely remodeled living, dining and new Kitchen, open to large new Family Room. The new lower level includes the new Garage and Mudroom. The existing fireplace and chimney remain - with beautifully exposed brick. The homeowners love contemporary design, and finished the home with a gorgeous mix of color, pattern and materials. The project was completed in 2011. Unfortunately, 2 years later, they suffered a massive house fire. The house was then rebuilt again, using the same plans and finishes as the original build, adding only a secondary laundry closet on the main level.

Newly built properties are not without their problems and often take a while to resolve all the snagging which occasionally extends to resolving problems with newly laid tiled floors. At this new property in the village of Malvern, and overlooked by the Malvern hills, the builders had left the Terracotta tiled kitchen floor covered in grout smears (also known as Grout Haze) following installation. They had also neglected to seal the tiles, which was actually quite fortunate in this case as they would have sealed in the grout haze, making it more difficult to remove. Naturally, the property owner wanted the problem to be resolved as soon as possible, and for me to make the tiles easy to keep clean in future, which can be achieved by sealing the tile. Before starting work, I made sure to fully protect any exposed woodwork with a plastic sheet covering to protect them from potential damage. I then proceeded to give the floor a thorough clean, using Tile Doctor Remove and Go to clean the floor and eradicate some stains that had been left behind as a result of the building work. Next, I paid special attention to the grout, where the very visible problem of grout haze had arisen. To neutralise these smears I used Tile Doctor Grout Clean Up, a concentrated phosphoric acid cleaner that can also remove alkaline mineral deposits and efflorescence. Grout Clean Up is only to be used on acid resistant stone, as sensitive stone can suffer from irreparable etching if it comes into contact with the product. Once completely clean and free of grout smears the floor was thoroughly rinsed with water to remove any trace of product and then dried as much as possible with a wet vacuum, afterwards an air mover was installed to speed up the drying process. Later that afternoon the floor was dry and I was able to apply a sealer. To do this I opted to use several coats of Tile Doctor Seal and Go Extra, a topical, fully breathable sealer that works really well on Terracotta. The sealer builds up a layer of protection on the surface of the tiles, protecting against ingrained dirt and stains. Seal and Go Extra also provides a high quality sheen finish which really did well to enhance the look of the Terracotta. The property owner was exceptionally pleased with the results, and to have this problem dealt with quickly and efficiently, additionally the sealer will ensure the Kitchen floor is easy to keep clean in the future.

A combination of quarter sawn white oak material with kerf cuts creates harmony between the cabinets and the warm, modern architecture of the home. We mirrored the waterfall of the island to the base cabinets on the range wall. This project was unique because the client wanted the same kitchen layout as their previous home but updated with modern lines to fit the architecture. Floating shelves were swapped out for an open tile wall, and we added a double access countertwall cabinet to the right of the range for additional storage. This cabinet has hidden front access storage using an intentionally placed kerf cut and modern handleless design. The kerf cut material at the knee space of the island is extended to the sides, emphasizing a sense of depth. The palette is neutral with warm woods, dark stain, light surfaces, and the pearlescent tone of the backsplash; giving the client’s art collection a beautiful neutral backdrop to be celebrated. For the laundry we chose a micro shaker style cabinet door for a clean, transitional design. A folding surface over the washer and dryer as well as an intentional space for a dog bed create a space as functional as it is lovely. The color of the wall picks up on the tones of the beautiful marble tile floor and an art wall finishes out the space. In the master bath warm taupe tones of the wall tile play off the warm tones of the textured laminate cabinets. A tiled base supports the vanity creating a floating feel while also providing accessibility as well as ease of cleaning. An entry coat closet designed to feel like a furniture piece in the entry flows harmoniously with the warm taupe finishes of the brick on the exterior of the home. We also brought the kerf cut of the kitchen in and used a modern handleless design. The mudroom provides storage for coats with clothing rods as well as open cubbies for a quick and easy space to drop shoes. Warm taupe was brought in from the entry and paired with the micro shaker of the laundry. In the guest bath we combined the kerf cut of the kitchen and entry in a stained maple to play off the tones of the shower tile and dynamic Patagonia granite countertops.
