A Weathered Antique box beam frames the top of this wine display niche while two matching reclaimed wood floating shelves hold the collection below, their warm brown tones and naturally aged patina bringing antique character and quiet elegance to a built-in display that could easily have been purely functional. Originally cut with giant saws around 1880 by American farming families, Weathered Antique timbers carry a brown to grayish-brown patina earned over more than a century of natural aging, a warmth and depth that no modern material can replicate. Through our process of denailing, kiln drying, and precision milling, Manomin Resawn Timbers prepares these antique timbers for exactly this kind of refined application.
Whether you are a homebuilder, a home remodeling contractor, or a homeowner looking to add Weathered Antique box beams and custom shelving to a wine display or specialty niche, Manomin Resawn Timbers has been helping people discover the antique charm of reclaimed wood since 2002. We ship nationwide and are happy to help you find the right pieces from anywhere in the country. Visit our showroom in Hugo, MN or reach out to us with a call or a message to get started.

Framed wine wall display in dining room with very light colored metal, glass, steel cables and acrylic hooks. LED lighting placed throughout to give a warm ambiance while drinking wine and entertaining guests. Small display yet a wow decorative element

This unique industrial display fixture would look great in any retail store. The non-floating shelves are reclaimed wood, while the floating shelves are steel. The steel is black but can be left raw to give the retail fixture a more industrial look. They can be equipped with locking casters to make moving the display cases easier. The modern shelving units can also be built with straight legs like shown if you’re looking for stationary shelving. The store fixture would also make a great rustic bookshelf for your office or home library. They could also be enclosed and have doors added to make a mobile storage cabinet or retail display case. The shelving unit can be made as shown or, as with all of our furniture, can be customized to fit your needs. Please contact us regarding any changes you’d like to make.

The client’s brief was to create a space reminiscent of their beloved downtown Chicago industrial loft, in a rural farm setting, while incorporating their unique collection of vintage and architectural salvage. The result is a custom designed space that blends life on the farm with an industrial sensibility.
The new house is located on approximately the same footprint as the original farm house on the property. Barely visible from the road due to the protection of conifer trees and a long driveway, the house sits on the edge of a field with views of the neighbouring 60 acre farm and creek that runs along the length of the property.
The main level open living space is conceived as a transparent social hub for viewing the landscape. Large sliding glass doors create strong visual connections with an adjacent barn on one end and a mature black walnut tree on the other.
The house is situated to optimize views, while at the same time protecting occupants from blazing summer sun and stiff winter winds. The wall to wall sliding doors on the south side of the main living space provide expansive views to the creek, and allow for breezes to flow throughout. The wrap around aluminum louvered sun shade tempers the sun.
The subdued exterior material palette is defined by horizontal wood siding, standing seam metal roofing and large format polished concrete blocks.
The interiors were driven by the owners’ desire to have a home that would properly feature their unique vintage collection, and yet have a modern open layout. Polished concrete floors and steel beams on the main level set the industrial tone and are paired with a stainless steel island counter top, backsplash and industrial range hood in the kitchen. An old drinking fountain is built-in to the mudroom millwork, carefully restored bi-parting doors frame the library entrance, and a vibrant antique stained glass panel is set into the foyer wall allowing diffused coloured light to spill into the hallway. Upstairs, refurbished claw foot tubs are situated to view the landscape.
The double height library with mezzanine serves as a prominent feature and quiet retreat for the residents. The white oak millwork exquisitely displays the homeowners’ vast collection of books and manuscripts. The material palette is complemented by steel counter tops, stainless steel ladder hardware and matte black metal mezzanine guards. The stairs carry the same language, with white oak open risers and stainless steel woven wire mesh panels set into a matte black steel frame.
The overall effect is a truly sublime blend of an industrial modern aesthetic punctuated by personal elements of the owners’ storied life.

The homeowners of this condo sought our assistance when downsizing from a large family home on Howe Sound to a small urban condo in Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver. They asked us to incorporate many of their precious antiques and art pieces into the new design. Our challenges here were twofold; first, how to deal with the unconventional curved floor plan with vast South facing windows that provide a 180 degree view of downtown Vancouver, and second, how to successfully merge an eclectic collection of antique pieces into a modern setting. We began by updating most of their artwork with new matting and framing. We created a gallery effect by grouping like artwork together and displaying larger pieces on the sections of wall between the windows, lighting them with black wall sconces for a graphic effect. We re-upholstered their antique seating with more contemporary fabrics choices - a gray flannel on their Victorian fainting couch and a fun orange chenille animal print on their Louis style chairs. We selected black as an accent colour for many of the accessories as well as the dining room wall to give the space a sophisticated modern edge. The new pieces that we added, including the sofa, coffee table and dining light fixture are mid century inspired, bridging the gap between old and new. White walls and understated wallpaper provide the perfect backdrop for the colourful mix of antique pieces. Interior Design by Lori Steeves, Simply Home Decorating. Photos by Tracey Ayton Photography
